In a more daring life

In a more daring life I would be a burlesque dancer!  I have ALWAYS wanted to be one but never ever would have the guts to do it.  Not like a naked dancer, but burlesque, where most of the allure is in barely uncovering not too revealing undergarments. Making eye contact, flirting while dancing. Impractical getups that are a cross between pinup and a cancan dancer.  I by the way LOVED Moulin Rouge SO much and own it and have watched it a gazillion times.  I am in no way close to being a Burlesque dancer in real life.  I am pretty goofy and clumsy and when I try to be sexy I just start laughing.  It feels sort of absurd to me!  ALL THAT SAID,  This lace thing makes me feel like I could do anything.  Its like a magic cloak or something!! I know its a bit risque to show so much skin here, but for some reason, I just don't freaking care.  I am wearing this outfit as I type this and still feel like, eh whatever.  Like all I need is a cigarette (I don't smoke) and a glass of Champaign and I have my own personal party while everyone is at school and work.  And this is at like 9:30 in the morning!  Sweet Lace thingy.  MAGICAL!

I may regret all of this when I put real clothes on, but TODAY I am celebrating being alone at last after TWO AND A HALF freaking weeks with EVERYBODY.  Oh, I did a photo shoot of some new things I am pretty sure are going to the etsy store.  I have an intense love for the sailor shirt dress but the rest is pretty safely going to make it!

I dream of burlesque, too! I'm way too shy, but oh, it looks like such fun.

You look stunning in the drapey lace jacket, lady.

Have you seen Nine? Go watch a trailer for it, and then go see it if you get the chance because as I was watching it, I said the exact same thing. "Oh to be a burlesque dancer and live in Italy in the 60's...!" The costumes are gorgeous and the undergarments are beautiful.

Super cute! You can definitely pull of the sex-pot look!

And I love the contrast between the risque look in the first few pictures and then the prim n' proper look in that cream-colored dress. Love it!

I wish I could get away with the items you wear on your blog. You look absolutely amazing in everything you model. I wish I looked 1/2 as good as you. I love your style!

Oh MANNNNN! I'm in love with all of those dresses!

And aren't the best pieces the ones that make us feel a little bit braver than we actually are? :]]

Don't you look just darling in those white knee socks! I love the off-white dress with the collar and bow.

I too like the type of burlesque you describe and have considered participating. There's a monthly show in Chicago, Belmont Burlesque, that has fun costume and music and dances and ideas, where the women end well-covered on the bottom, and with pasties on their nipples, which are the last things uncovered at the very very end of the number. It's fun!

I want to freakin raid your closet and wear everything you own! Everything you put together always looks so fun and creative. I suppose I could head on over to your etsy store and buy something, right?

And funny you bring up the burlesque thing because just this Saturday I was telling Mel how I've always been interested in that and the whole pin-up world. Ah, but alas...I guess I don't have that "look" about me to begin with so it's a lost cause (oh, and I always think a good rockabilly girl with lots of tats does the whole scene justice, and last time I checked I don't have tattoos and I could only wish to have a bf w/a pompadour).

Those are some incredible finds! The peter pan collar dress is adorable!

I looove those high waisted leopard hot pants!! Where did you find those?! You have the teeniest waist! That may be the most perfect alone outfit....I totally know what you mean with having everybody around (which, don't get me wrong, I love) but it is nice to settle in for some quiet alone time.

BTW...is your hair darker with new bangs?! It looks adorable!

Ahhh! I die from the dresses! I am so jealous of your finds, but I will have to start keeping an eye on your store. I am an etsy virgin, I have no idea how it all works.

Having enjoyable fantasies like that definitely adds to life's pleasure. I love the layered lace around and on the collar/yoke, back and shoulders of the short sleeved white top you're modeling in the second and third to last photos of this post.

I love that second cream colored mod shift. So cute! And, you should do burlesque! There's quite a few burlesque shows you can catch in Minneapolis and all are great fun. Annie.
