Repeat to myself: they are just clothes, they are just clothes

All of the items in these photos are from my Signature Collection that I previewed yesterday, and will be listed in my new shop SecondSkinStyle TODAY! I am going to refrain from doing reserves since, unfortunately, they don't really guarantee you will get the item anyway (people have been known to just buy something that is on reserve for someone else, and it kind of makes us all feel sort of bad) but I will Tweet every item with a link and the price and size once it is listed. Like I said yesterday, I will be previewing, creating "look" outfits, and listing a new Collection each week this month, so I hope you will enjoy it, even if you are not in the market for some vintage!  I'll try to make it pretty and keep this type of stuff to just a couple days a week, since, you know, neither of us are really used to this.

Now that I see all this stuff in photos and not just hanging on racks, I think I might just be insane actually for getting rid of it! These two dresses are ones that I found and hemmed for myself. I don't think I ever officially wore the first one, but the second was the one I wore when I was in New York for Fashion Week and the Chictopia Conference last February. I love that little dress.  I have a new mantra now though. I am going to be fine.

All vintage thrifted items soon to be for sale! Tweeting the listings between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm Pacific time.

Remember that you are a finder of beautiful things. The things will go, but the world is full of them and you will always retain your talent for finding them.

Did you sew all of these things or are these thrifted? Either way they're gorgeous! And great photographs!

You can do it! You're just spreading the love, think of it that way. :-) Have a great day, beautiful!

Oh man, this is torture...I love everything! Spreading the love indeed! And, of course, you can be confident that you will find new gems on your thrifting journeys. Thanks for making these items available!

I just love your blog, hun. And I wanted to drop a line about the "they are just clothes" thing because... well, so many people during this recession are cutting back and are, in my opinion, "cutting down" on fashion. I LOVE clothes; do they own me? No, but I detest when people think you should just wear whatever and that's enough. Our personalities leak outside of us, obviously.

Ugh. With that said, I get rid of stuff in my closet a lot, and it's hard because some of the stuff is fabulous, like the stuff you have here. BUT what I ask myself is: "Do I want to wear it RIGHT NOW?" or "Do I love the cut/color?" Because if I waver on those things, I know I can find better.

I'm a size 12/14 in dresses, so I can't keep unflattering things. I had this linen dress that was so hippie-like, but I looked huge in it and the color washed me out. I love it, but it just wasn't doing its job.

Do I make sense?

omg kudos to you for being so rational, I would NEVER be able to sell that first dress if it'd look so perfect on me if it does on you. Seriously, that dress was made for you, the color brings out all your features. Love the entire outfit btw, the coat and the boots are SO classy and you look way expensive!

I wish we were the same shoe size! Both of these boots are completely adorable! UGH! Why didn't my mother bind my feet as a child?
Anyway, I love the way you are styling the items to give people an idea of how to wear the pieces - so smart. - Katy

Think about this way, you could give them to some lady to sell the the people you don't even know, have a contact etc... This-is-your-way! And this is gonna be a wonderful business! Believe me, you're good!
And you worked them amazingly again :)

Dress # 1 looks awesome on you :)
It really is just stuff ( as I say this my closets overflow ;)
I am really proud of you for letting go. It is a tough achievement and will probably take a while to get used to it, but my Mom-in_law says it is the most freeing thing in the world to be unencumbered by stuff :)
Though, I'd still keep #1 for one good wearing ;)

the pattern in the first dress is so fine. If these were my items, I'd have trouble parting with them. That's not a helpful thing to say, I know.

I don't twitter, so I'll likely never get my hands on any of these things.

You look beautiful in these dresses, especially the first one. I can't believe you're parting with them, either! I admire your ability to let them go.

I so look forward to all your comments, its like my little obsession each day...maybe thats creepy but I really love them!! I would love to figure out how to get you guys up here to visit, you would love it! Secondly, I love all your outfits and see myself in little bits of them however I suck at it, and we need to figure out something where you can become my personal shopper, seriously I need some looks, I struggle because I have so many cool pieces but dont have the staples that I need or something. I am creative but then it gets overboard. Love that little leather belt by the way, so mens wear chic!
