Ruttish vs Spicy

I have a tendency to get stuck in ruts.  Rut is a noun that literally means : a long deep track made by the repeated passage of the wheels of vehicles.  So maybe in reality I am a creator of ruts.  If you remember, I took my photos inside for the first half of this blogs life, in the same position with the same back drop (the one I now use for my etsy shots) and the move outside changed all that but I quickly found my comfort spots and repeat them over and over.  Most are just a few steps from my house and require just a few minutes of snapping to complete the shoot (efficiency is maybe the foundation for ruts building?) But even picturesque landscapes can become ruttish if utilized too often.  I guess a good motto would be "if its not broken, do not fix it."  True, but then isn't "Variety the spice of life" ? I guess I am feeling a little bland right now and I want to be more spicy!  Truth is I am close to lots of cool looking stuff, and as my husband keeps saying, I really should utilize it while I can. While the weather is nice, and I can still tolerate going outside. SO, I am going to try to go to new places at least once a week.  And I am going to try new things in my life too.  Make it spicier.  I don't know what they are going to be yet, but I am sure you will find out when I do.

Oh Christina. (I always want to write X-tina for some reason but I don't know if I should compare you to miss Aguilera...)
You are so gorgeous. These photos are really beautiful. I am so incredibly jealous of your locations. I'm a country girl at heart living in an apartment in a city so my choices are rather limited unfortunately. I'm in love with this outfit, it's oddly PEREFECT for a walk down a quiet road. (some may disagree but what do they know?)
I have a suggestion for some spice in your life: come visit me ;)

Did you have safari chic in mind when you were dressing up today or did you just automatically turn out that way. Beautiful :)

I am absolutely stuck in a rut, and while on paper it may seem like I have nothing much to complain about (and I should quit whining cause if it ain't broke don't fix it), I still feel mopey, trapped, unmotivated, unchallenged... this life definitely needs more spice! Not sure what to do about it yet but your post did make me feel better. And bonus points for shots of a great outfit in a lovely location! :-)

I think your blog has the perfect amount of spice.

I tend to agree with the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" motto.

But then, I'm probably more boring than most people.

If you want more spice though, then by all means, grab some and shake it up! :)

I hear your rut, I;ve let the horrible weather we've had this summer totally let me get there. But no more!
Loving your outfit, its so fun and especially with the different backdrop and new angles.

I have to keep reminding myself that variety can be good. Since the move, I've been missing my normal photo spots at the farm park. But I really should get out and explore my new town...

I love that you've been able to style this skirt in so many ways. You look great!

Thanks for your tips on your photos!
I stopped using my bells and whistles and put the cammy on "live view" and standard and I think I got some better ones :) I also waited til late day. I did cheat and use "cloudy" setting as this removes the blue from auto and makes faux "warmth" ;)
Try it on a rain day, it really works! Here is my E-mail. Send me yours and we can discuss "the Venture". I am soo excited. I did this once before and I will explain the format, and if u like, we can go from there. I love to do the laying down shots , yours are awesome! I finally started putting my tri-pod really high, and it gets all of me (usually). I do agree that if it ain't broke, etc. but when u find a new way to do something, it is so fun and exciting :) I also love the shots of "lone" accessories, Like your bag! Hang stuff from trees, that is awesome :) I like to do this with accessories like necklaces. Much easier for me to take them off than to try to get a shot while on my neck! I am writing a book, now....
Bye!

Hey lady!
I love how earthy your outfit is-and it totally matches your enivronment! You're like a saavy fashion-y ninja that can blend into any outdoor scene.
I think its totally fine to get stuck in ruts...when you feel comfortable enough, try new things!
It seems like once you got comfortable with your style and your blogging you felt able to shoot outdoors...
And who knows what your photos would look like if you felt uncomfy during the shoots? *imagining beautiful outfits with hilarious faces*
That said...I would love to see more photos of you outside- (and you HAVE been doing that a lot of that lately so go you!) -just because your nature is a lot different from New York nature...so I'm curious. It looks beautiful out there.

Perhaps the good thing about being stuck in a rut is that you get to pause and get back to your creative side. You think outside the bland box to explore something spicier!

I look forward to more spiced up posts!

This dress is beautiful. I like how you've styled it.

I think my lifestyle right now requires "ruttishness" (like what I did there?). And I'm mostly okay with that. I think sometimes there's a comfort in knowing what to expect but then sometimes it's nice to be completely thrown off guard in a good way.

This is lovely. That dress is stunning and I love how you've embraced it with the boots and hat.

I'm glad you've branched outside. It's kind of fun, no? Although, I still love the indoor shots too. You always nail it either way. I'm jealous!

Spice and variety are nice, but how the heck can you top a view like your backyard? I feel overwhelmed sometimes with trying to find new and exciting places... but I'm looking forward to whatever you decide to do! I sure don't get tired of looking at those mountains in your background. PS: That wide brown belt you own, I think you wrote it was a gift from your husband.. any idea where he bought it from? It looks so perfect and I can't find anything like it!

what beautiful golds in these pics--your skin, the dress. Especially, like the hat!

This is very spicy, indeed.

The colors, the locale, the glowing skin...

I love.

I've thought about this post almost everyday since I first saw it.

It helps me try to fill my rut. I created my rut, too- but the ground is almost even again.

And I love the necklace. Is it chenille? It makes me kind of crazy.
