Classic Lover

Due to the fact that I have been incommunicado these past couple of days (camping, sleeping, cleaning, and other random things) I thought I would run out really quick and get a few shots of my outfit today.  Right now it is just pouring down rain but I got in just in time! I think you can see the sheets of it falling behind me.  It's so cool! So, as I was getting dressed today I was realizing that the next new set of trends will be kicking in soon and the current ones will be considered, "last season" or some shit like that, and that always sort of makes me sad.  Back in December I made a few predictions for this current season and I am still loving all of the things I hoped for.  A few things I still love that may be going out (jeeze I hope not) but I will continue to wear anyway, no matter what are:
  1. Stripes (I just love them, as do most and while this may be considered a "classic" I feel like even classics can get saturated.  I just don't care though.)
  2. Ray Ban Wayfarers (again, classic, but don't classics come in in waves?  I don't want this one to wash out.)
  3. Sailor stuff.  Nautical.  Crisp whites and Navy with accents of gold and red. Rope. all that stuff.  I know, still classic, still love.
  4. Gladiator sandals. (Ok this may be like Roman and Greek classic, but they had a moment in the sun for the last few years and I feel like its sun is setting.  or it already set.  sadness.)
  5. Basket weave purses and bags.  Please don't ever go away.
  6. Vintage day dresses.  Nuff said.
  7. Knee high boots (these are my winter stapes and cannot be torn from me.  I don't care how they eventually date me.  I will be 90 years old and still wearing flat tall boots.)
  8. Lots of other things that I was so happy as they were appreciated by the masses but worried that they would be killed due to their popularity.
I think it just feels like this past season entered into a trending pattern that so perfectly fit my personal style and it seemed like maybe I was coincidentally hitting the mark.  I guess personal style evolves.  I don't care about being "current" though so I guess it doesn't really matter.  Just thought I would give a shout out to the things that I loved that just happened to be trendy this year, that I am unwilling to let go of. Do you have one that you are holding fast to?

I think I'm going to cut full on bangs this next week which so many stylish women (especially bloggers) have had this last season. I desperately need a change while still keeping my length, so I hope I won't look too "dated" ;)

I love how blue your eyes look with your shirt and the grey/blue sheets of rain coming in.

i am with you on the tall, flat boots - they are my f a v o r i t e.

i, too, will be a little old lady sporting riding boots to cover my bunions if it comes to that. i wore some in 85 degrees the other day!

that approaching storm is amazing!

I'm totally on the knee-high boots train, and I'm never getting off! Those have been a staple of mine for the last 4 or 5 years, though, so I didn't even realize that they were a passing trend. And vintage day dresses will always be "in" for me. Another thing I'd add is the cross-body bag, like the one you're wearing in these photos. They're so practical and I use one nearly every day.

I love these pictures! So moody. And you are looking good.

I really like when my personal style aligns with the current trend not because I want to be on trend but because I can snatch up the items I like. They are suddenly every where and I don't have to hunt them down. I'm not sure however if I have a strong enough personal style that I'm not affected some by the current trends. I know that personal style does evolve, but some people, like you, have such a strong personal style that you can pick it out immediately. I like you style. I love looking at blogs with style so different from mine because I can appreciate and live out another style while still staying true to myself. :)

I love stripes! Probably a little too much. I am big into the nautical trend too, but I blame that on being from MA. I think style is def an evolution but there are somethings you always come home to. Like stripes. And a good pair of jeans.

Like your look - you pull off wide-legged jeans really wwell!

I saw the first picture on my dashboard and actually gasped. I don't now how loud I actually did it but it sounded pretty intense considering I am sitting in my living room in silence. Anyways. You look beautiful. I love the tied shirt and wide leg jeans. Such a classic combination.

And I think it's pretty safe to say that your wardrobe staples are going to stay around for a pretty long time.

I adore this outfit. So casual chic. And the photos are gorgeous.

One trend I am holding onto is pattern mixing. It just thrills the artist in me. And I find it so fun and easy to do! I hope that never goes "out". Though if I like something I refuse to let it go. Who cares, right?

I think anything can look good and current if you style it right and wear it with attitude. That said, I hope low rise jeans and pants never ever come back "in" because they are stupid and extremely impractical. And people's butts hang out. And how much stupider can you get than that?

Also I am completely with you on the boots! Love knee high flat boots!

I am not really a blue person, but it looks so so fascinating on you, looks like the shade was invented so that you could wear it. :)

I love those sailor style jeans you are wearing. I've been looking for a pair like that, ones that are retro influenced.
