13.7.10

its settled then.

I used to never ever wear red. The concept of wearing a red, floral, one piece playsuit, would never have occurred to me a moth ago.  I am happy things change.  I was so surprised by the support I got from you about my "lack of balls" outfits the other day!  I literally started a new "anonymous, registered users only" blog that I was going to post them on (and a hand full of others that never made it here), but at the last minute I just decided to trust, and let most of them be here.  I feel so silly now because you seem so confident that I could do it!  I guess they are a bit "town sensitive" and that in a city or somewhere other than here, they would mostly be just fine.  Anyway, thank you for having some faith in my abilities to just go out in them. I DID get one comment on that post from an anonymous reader telling me that I seemed too immature to be a mother.  Whatever that means coward. I mean maybe they were trying to give me a compliment but mistranslated the word "immature" to mean "young" and that would be a very nice compliment, I think.  Its not that I expect people to be nice to me all the time, but how on earth can someone derive that I am too immature to be a mother from a series of clothing pictures???  Baffling.   When I picked my kid up from school the other day he told me that Richard said that he was a loser and was quite upset about it.  I asked him, "Well, are you a loser?" and he said "NO!" so I said "Then it doesn't matter does it?  You know you are not a loser so it doesn't matter what Richard says.  He just wants to make you feel sad for some reason. Maybe he is sad."  He told me that it still hurt his feelings.  "Ya, unfortunately it does, but try to imagine how sad Richard must feel that he would say such mean things."  Then he decided that Richard must be very sad indeed.  So,  I think you get my point.  I erased the comment and will continue to erase anything that I know is not true about me, but perhaps a blatant reflection of the person leaving the untruth.  It doesn't happen all the time or anything, but its pretty immature when it does.  and sad.  and pathetic. Seriously, get a life.  I'LL DO WHAT I WANT!

That settled, thank you so much for liking my hair recently!  I cut it on Saturday using my method I video taped here.  This time I moved systematically through all of my hair all the way to the bottom layer and took quite a bit off.  That is why it is finally waving up again!  And to style, I picked it out, added some Waves of Envy spray in waves in my hair and just scrunched with the drier on medium till it was almost dry, then smoothed Moroccan Oil into the ends (I get it at my salon). No brush, just slow scrunching.  Anyway, thanks for noticing!

God forbid you're a mother, young, like to have fun with clothes and speak your mind. That person obviously has a skewed version of what a "mother" is. Sad world they must live in. I hate when people leave mean anonymous messages--that to me seems immature.

Anyways, kudos to you for wearing that jumpsuit. I know I wouldn't have the balls. Hehe.

Love the romper! My fiancee all but pre-divorced me for putting on a black pant-play-suit-thing with a tubetop the other day. Wear what you want - regardless of where you are! That's what I say!

Also, mean, anonymous commenters are losers.

You're gorgeous, girl, and I COVET your hair. I can't believe you did it yourself. Gah! Just came across your blog recently and am loving the inspiration and your use of vintage/thrifted clothing. In fact, the post on my blog today is a little peek into your wardrobe. Check it out if you get a chance!
Merci,
Shannan

Glad you're wearing red now. It looks good on you.

Sorry to say, but anonymous is a loser! I don't understand why people would take their time to read blogs and then write such negative comments.

I can imagine that this blog is just one facet of you and there are many others including being a good mom.

yes you can. And the yellow pants from the last post? simply awesome as well!
i know what you mean about wearing something out in a small town but if they go out in trackpants, who are they to judge your fabulousness?

Anonymous said...

I get what you mean about "town sensitive" because I definitely change outfits at least once a week because I've decided that I will stand out more than desired, and I don't even live in a small town. But, if you decide to, then all the power to you :)

You Go Girl! Don't let negative comments effect you, it's not worth the energy. You look fabulous and everyone knows it, your style is completely your own and if it's not you always give credit to those you admire. I'm crazy about your hair cut, please tell me if you can purchase Waves of Envy at your local drugstore or only online??

Christina! I loved this post, seriously! I love to follow the flow of your thoughts... I'm glad you've a decision about this situation... And about the outfit, you're like a sunshine! Of course this color will look so good on you! Love!

I think your style is amazing and you seem like the kinds of mom I'd like to befriend...

Aren't anonymous negative comments the worst?! I got a real doozy here.

your style is amazing!!! i wear a lot of weird things in my day and if you think you look good that's all that matters. i love that romper on you...it makes you legs look super long!!! i still havent gotton on the romper bandwagon yet but i see all these beautiful women wearing them, so i think i am getting inspired to face my fashion fear and try it out! xoxo

If anything I would say you have the balls to be who you are as a mother. There are so many people lose themselves after having children. At least you are retaining your individuality and encouraging your son to be a good person. There's no better example you could set.

On another note - I cannot wear red. I look awful in red. You look gorgeous in anything, I'm surprised you ever left out a color.

I've never been a fan of jumpsuits and rompers but you can really make a girl change her mind. It looks great! Also, the necklace and bangles...must find me some.

OH MY GOSH I had to comment, your experimental post was inspiring, fun, amazing ART! I was glad you showed that uber-creative, playful side! (altho you still do everyday in your posts really)

And, as a MOTHER OF 3, who is 42 (gasp!) and loves fashion, art, music (love your Black Keys too) pushing boundaries, and USING and STRETCHING MY OLD BRAIN DAILY, I say, push on sista! No need to pull on the Mom Jeans yet (altho you would rock them, indeed!)

Good advice to his son, and good self-reflection! I liked the post today. Actually I decided to cut my hair as you teach in an old video here. Ok it was more or less, but because my hair is tricky .. but I liked hehehe

You are beautiful in this red overalls. You are very beautiful indeed! I would envy you if you were not so good person = ppppp Greetings!

Look at you, hot mama! :P
This is so adorable. I don't think I would have even considered wearing this playsuit, but you pulled it off effortlessly. Bravo!

And about the anonymous comment, I really hope they meant 'young'... sometimes when I see your posts, that's the way I feel! It can be hard to imagine you as a mom when we just see this young, gorgeous, fashionably chic woman with such a great body (not trying to be creepy). You just don't fit the 'mom stereotype' I guess... which is good! Every mom is different, and you seem like such a great one. :)
Keep on doing what you do!

I can totally relate about the "not having the balls to wear this" outfits. I am also trying to be better about just wearing what I want.

As for the immature comment, I will say that you definitely do look young! And I mean that as a compliment. :) After reading your blog for a while, when I first found out your were a mom I was like woah! I actually don't know your real age but I would totally guess you could be in your mid-20s.

gorgeous!!! love the jumpsuit and your hair is truly amazing. and i can only imagine that you are a wonderful mother. and that anonymous commenter can just go suck it.

i think you interpreted the "compliment" just right! congrats on being a great, young mother and keep up the awesome looks!

First off, whoever wrote that comment did it anonymously because they meant what they said. And what they said has absolutely no merit. What a stupid thing to say, about someone they absolutely don't know! Anyways, that really ticks me off that people randomly attack complete strangers.

Anywho, you are looking particularly beautiful:) If you're one thing, you're one hot momma! hehe..

You're on a ball here girl. You look so freaking amazing here and on the last post with the golden yellow pants. I never understood why you did not embrace those colours more because you have such a beautiful golden shade of skin. But lokking amazing. :) and the hair, oh my god. I don't even know what to say.

I totally am with you on the, 'this outfit could work in a city, anywhere but where i am' cmment. I am in a small city/town, and have so many outfits that sometimes I will take pictures of, and then 'calm down' to be more appropriate around town. I have never been the one to stand out in a room, and although I want to look nice, and be noticed, I do not want to look like I do not belong, its a tough balance, but the days I get up the courage and just do it anyways, it turns out alright. Of course I am trying to get to the City too, but its the same small town clothing struggle.

My goodness, woman.

It amazes me that you create such scandals without doing anything!

You have some strange anonymi following you.

Ah well.

I do love the hair you've got there, too. Deep down, that's what I want to do, but as you can see- as soon as it so much as thinks about touching my shoulders, it's off. That is one thing I have zero patience for.

And I definitely hear you on the quick change of thinking regarding certain items. I think you look amazing in this jumpsuit and it is something that I would never wear. But... then again, seeing it on you makes me think I could....

A change of heart can happen so quickly. I love it.

And I also really love that black and white bangle. It's awesome.

you look amazing in this suit! your hair DOES look more wavy, but awesome..i have super straight hair and am SUPER jealous of your locks.

ps - this is a blog and it should be a positive, fun thing for you. people will judge but try not to let it get to you! like richard, that person clearly has her own problems.

The effects of blogging are really quite funny. I've found I have so much more self-awareness, but I'm also noticing that my aesthetics and boundaries are changing. I'm willing to wear and experiment with things that I would have turned my nose up at a couple of months ago. I'm glad to see you embracing change as well, because red really suits your skin tone. You look like one hot mama (literally!) in this outfit.

i absolutely love this one piece. It's so adorable.

first of all...you are an amazing mother. i've seen it with my own two eyes. you handled the richard comment so well and i love that you turned the question to grant. self reflection should be taught very early on. bravo, mama. bravo.

secondly...where those damn outfits all over town! i dare ya. ;)

Ooh this romper is fabulous! Did you have to do any hemming or was it this cute on the rack? I rarely come across one-pieces on my thrifting adventures. Regardless this is adorable indeed. And by your narrative of that story it sounds like you're an awesome mom, building your boy up with self confidence (something we could all use a little more of!).

You look absolutely gorgeous!
I wore a kerchief top yesterday, as inspired by you :)
You look much better in them than me, but I really like the way it turned out! Thanks for tje inspiration.

You look great in jumpsuits and rompers. Seriously great. And those kinds of comments baffle the mind, really. I would love to have a mum like you. Although I doubt you are much older than me, and you would have to have given birth to me because of some weird societal ritual that saw you married off to an old man at the age of five or something, and that's not an ideal situation. But in every other respect. (Remember what you said about strange comments the other day? I have embraced it). :)

You look great in red!!! And you seem like you are a cool mom! Your son's opinion is the only one that matters and I'm sure he thinks you're pretty awesome. Hope you're having a great day!

love it! just found your blog and love your style!

I suffer from the same small town thing, sometimes I worry that what I'm wearing is just too much, but letting go of caring is so freeing. :) If you feel good, who cares if its too much!

I really love how you have a routine and yet constantly evolve. Definitely not a sign of immaturity and I would know, because any hint of it is my pet peeve.
