hot-pants folly

So before I get started I would like to say that I took these photos last night before going out to dinner and decided that my BRILLIANT idea to "just wear hot pants under my dress instead of a slip!" didn't pan out and I threw a slip on just before going out.  I did not have time to retake my pictures however so you now have the luxury to see me in my folly. I guess you have been seeing me often in a state of folly these past two days (though yesterday was probably more painful, at least it was for me) but I assure you, my head is being screwed back on now and I am realizing that I am a complete idiot sometimes (I already knew that I was, but sometimes I forget and need a little humbling to make me cool my jets).

Yes, yes, I know this is my space and that I have the freedom here to say whatever I wish, but to be honest I sometimes type things that I wouldn't actually say (as I am sure we all do at some point) and I find the alone / ultra public forum here to be quite intriguing sometimes. I sit here, alone, and type my thoughts, and who knows who can just read it if they wish. These may be my "ALONE" thoughts, but I throw them out as if they are everyone's business instead of just crying and throwing a Flash Dance pity party for myself (if you have not seen it in the last 10 years do it as soon as you can!! and dance really really fast in a running motion and you will laugh and feel much better! I swear it works! Plus there is a great scene of 80's "hot chicks" working out in makeup and earrings and neon and floss and stuff! Its classic!) Uhhhm, where was I?  Ah, doesn't matter.  The important thing is I am embarrassed even though I didn't really do anything wrong, because sometimes the truth is embarrassing and letting however many people know that you are sometimes a total bitch can make you feel a bit sheepish the next day.  I am sure everyone is sometimes.  still embarrassing.  Ahem.  I feel much better today though! Moving on.

Dress, bracelets, necklace: Vintage and thrifted from goodwill yesterday (the secret to feeling better)
Shoes: seychelles from Urban Outfitters
belt and purse: thrifted Coach actually! I was super happy about these finds!
Hot pants: I didn't end up wearing them anyway, but they were thrifted as well.  I know, sick right?  I washed them though. its cool.

No worries - I've done the exact thing, only in a thong. Thankfully, my always attentive fiancee was kind enough to bring my exposed bum to my attention. Whatever would I do without him, well, be publicly inappropriate for one...

I really like this dress with those sandals! I'm sure you looked fabulous for dinner with the slip. We all have fashion slip-ups and I am glad you share yourse with us; its the stuff that most people are afraid to talk about. I'm glad you have the courage to put it out there.

I'm loving the blonde Christina!

And don't change either! I love the slips of personality that seep through in your posts. Of course, edit what you share as you wish, but there is nothing wrong with some venting from time to time!!! Proves you're 'real'

That's funny, I'm actually a lot nicer on my blog than I am in real life! Let's just say my brutal honesty can backfire sometimes... ;-)

By the way, I featured one of your looks here: http://idlefascination.blogspot.com/2010/07/blogger-lovin-mix-masters.html

I love those shoes paired with anything, they make whatever you're wearing extra fun

We all slip up sometimes, Christina (I went on a psychotic meltdown the night before over my UK Visa process haha) don't worry

Ah, my dear. These sure are strange times we're a'livin in.

I totally dig the hot pants by the way. My friend Captain Darjeeling (at blogspot, I think) did a very similar thing with sheer harems and an even more scant pant underneath (quite cheeky if you know what I mean...).

I just figured you were ballsy enough to give it a shot. I would, but I would end up changing before leaving, too. I'm a total pansy. But I really just love the look of the little polka dots on your legs. Seeing the contrast of them over the hot pants v. over the legs is very, very, very cool.

And sexy.

And congratufuckinglations on your excellent cache at goodwill- that looks like a good day.

Hopefully that luck and happiness carries through and lingers over the weekend.

Perhaps that happiness will wear out its welcome, too :)

i think one of my favorite things about you is your unabashed humanity and unwillingness to be anyone but yourself. in real life and on the internet, you let your beautiful self shine through, and you're honest about your feelings. i try to do that in my writing as well, but i know i'm nowhere near as succesful and real as you are, which is just another reason why you have so many devoted followers.

and also, you look smokin' in that dress. xoxo

please tell me you actually secretly hate that dress and that you want to get rid of it! please??!!!! it's so totally fabulous that i am in pain looking at it. i love the little polka dots. and i am so guilty of going out in transparent clothing and not realizing it until later. matt is forever saying to me, 'um you know you see through that dress, right?' who knows how many people in this town have seen my lady bits. but you look gorgeous in that dress and i think you look awesome in just the hot pants but i get that it may not be appropriate in all situations. but it's kinda burlesque meets housewife. so great.

Isn't it great that we all take outfit pics? I mean, if you didnt take them, would you ahve left with the hot pants still? I knwo that after seeing mine sometimes, I have to go change lol.

I think sometimes we get very wordy and open with our blogs because with blogging comes a lot of females (and a few guys) that seem to like and appreciate the things that we do, we have a lot in common so we don't think about it too much. I know I forget that my mom reads my blog, only after I publish a post containing details of a night at the bar and a hangover. It happens, no worries. :D

I think 'folly' might be a subjective concept.

You've appeared in shorts that short before. I'm certainly envious of your nice slim thighs, but not shocked at the sight of them!

It doesn't seem like you were styling it as a see-through outfit so I agree that a slip is appropriate.

I'm loving all the wonderful details in this outfit and your little story about the process! So funny but I had a Flashdance conversation yesterday as well!!! Very entertaining!

that happened to me once at a wedding in a sheer dress with purple granny panties. I looked much less cute than you. :)

I think it's fine with the hot pants! A little sexy :) I love this dress though, hot pants or not!

And the blog forum is a strange one, I remember first experiencing it on livejournal, at first I thought journals shouldnt be live, isn't that the basis of so many teen movies, someone's diary gets into the hands of their enemy? But anyway, it doesn't matter if you let off some steam, this is your blog, no one else's. If they choose not to air all of their thoughts and feelings in their blog, that i their choice, they shouldn't pass judgment on how you choose to convey you feeling.

That was a bit of a rambling, not sure if it made total sense, oh well. Love your blog, and reading your ups and downs, it make you human.

I guess ppl also love your blog because you make it more human with your feelings... you decide where to stop.
Love your pics

i love this. i wore something similar after seeing an episode of I Love Lucy. Lucile was wearing this lovely flowing dress that only buttoned from the shirt to the waits and she wore cigarette pants under neath. i found a sheer maxi skirt and copied the look but with leggings instead. now im going to consider your hot-pants look. good job!

I love this whole look, though I wouldn't be able to pull off the hot pants. I had a Prof show up in class once with a sheer yellow top and a black and white floral bra. It was amazing but I could never be that brave.

Hey, hot pants have more fabric than bathing suits and we walk around in those in public, right? No worries. At least you can wear them. I can't imagine shoving my butt in hot pants....like ever.

I've done the same thing before. It was quite unfortunate as I was with people from work!

Hey, hot pants are probably better than no pants! Regardless, you look great! I love the pops of color with your shoes and necklace. I want this whole look!

I'm actually digging the hot pants through the sheer dress. I have a dress similar and wear a super short slip underneath to get a similar effect.

You've got a great eye for style!
