subconscious collective

I am not sure if everyone does this (though I suspect to a certain point we all do) but I have a tendency to buy the same things over and over.  I went to the thrift shops Saturday and I purchased the jacket, striped shirt and espadrilles in the top photo, got them home and proceeded to make almost the exact same outfit I have worn in the bottom photos (I even originally was going to wear the red hat but took it off at the last minute).  I mean the bottom two photos were taken months apart I think, and it has been weeks since the most current of the two, but I must, in my head, have this urge to fulfill the camo-army-surplus look with the stripes and cutoff shorts thing.  There must be stock footage of Kate Moss or Yoko Ono or some ridiculously cool (in my minds eye) chick wearing this outfit in my subconscious collection of amazing-ness looks that is causing me to do this over and over.  Or maybe some combos just make sense to me (and anyone else who buys the same things over and over).  Anyway, the outfit feels nice to wear. So here it is, again, but different.

{EDIT:  SERIOUSLY check out this post on a camo exhibition over in Ottawa posted by Fay at FayFrisco!  She is really adorable too by the way!}

Army jacket: thrifted
Proenza Schouler for Target tee: thrifted
Espadrilles (missing their matching strings): thrifted
cutoffs: used to be American Eagle pants

i do the same thing - always dresses with nipped waists and full skirts + a belt. it's so easy to put together and i have trouble straying it.

I know what you mean: I'm automatically dran to stripes, red, etc. But I try to get away from that, though it's nice to have a "signature" style.

first off, how adorable are those shoes?!?! so cute. i'm telling you, i'm going to find out where you live and knock on your door and make you take me shopping. you find the best stuff! you look so great in this outfit! i tend to buy similar things a lot too. it's like i go in cycles where i'll buy the same things over and over with slight variations. that just means i love it!

I've got multiples of a lot of things in my closet, some bought on purpose and others not. Funny how the mind does that.

I love that you just added ties to the rose espadrilles because theirs were missing! I think I like them even better with the black ties than I would with the matching ties. What a wonderful idea and very inspiring!

Yep!
I do the same thing.
Have mostly gotten a handle on the situation, but sometimes have to discipline myself when holding up an item so similiar to something I already own.
"No! You like it because you already have it. Puuuut it baaaaaack."
haha.

Thanks quite impressive. I always manage to do the same thing though, although recently i've been branching out into new territory so my wardrobe might become a bit more well rounded. either way it's a great outfit!

I totalllly do the same thing!!! I always pick blue things. Like, blue florals, blue stripes, blue button downs..blue blue blue! i don't get it!!! And then I get home and I'm like, wow my whole closet is blue. Lately I've sworn to only buying nonblue things ;)

I love the look though- you look so edgy and confident!!
