Day 4 = hot head

So this is day 4 of me not washing my hair and my scalp feels really warm and, like, mushy.  It honestly looked fantastic, but feels rather waxy and hot.  I am slightly sicked out.  I went to Sephora yesterday and bought a really great boar bristle brush (to redistribute the oil?) and a different kind of hair powder (so sop that shit up) but I have to say I am really looking forward to washing it tomorrow.   Its very warm and sunny today so my hat will sort of act as a deep, hot oil treatment cap while I am out getting things done!  Two birds!  Enough with the sick talk.  Hope you enjoy the gorgeous weekend!!

Would you like something like the list below, or is it just redundant and silly? Everyone else does it.  I don't really think I need to though.  Whateves.

shoes: vintage thrifted
dress: vintage thrifted hemmed
belt: thirfted
hat: thrifted
hand bag: vintage thrifted
sunglasses: marc by marc jacobs

The way you usually label your outfits is fine. I think.

Back in high school I noticed that if I skipped a day of hair washing, my hair looked lovely. Then as a freshman in college I started stretching it to 2-3 days. Now i'm a junior and usually go about 5 days haha. My hair doesn't look greasy though because I use baby powder, which adds amazing texture to my hair. I'm to the point that i HATE freshly washed hair. It won't DO anything, just lays there all thin, limp, and frizzy.

I love the list at the bottom- that way I know if I can find something at a store or not! Okay, and because I'm snoopy and like to know the details. :) It's like the fine print of an outfit.

When you first start washing your hair less frequently, your scalp is still producing oils at its previous replace-all-the-moisture-that-shampoo-strips-out rate. It can take a little while for it to realize that it can calm down.

I also have mixed feelings about the outfit breakdowns. It is, as you say, pretty much a tradition of the genre at this point, but I buy almost everything at thrift stores - it's not like an interested reader can rush out and buy a piece she likes for herself! It does, however, allow me to emphasize a particular designer's aesthetic, if applicable, and to let my readers know if I've worn an item before. I asked my readers if they would prefer to see a 'remix' indicator, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Plus, it gives me a feel for what's in my closet: where do I shop the most? Do I have favorite designers? Do items from any one particular label consistently look wonderful (or horrible) on me?

Love the cute little dress with the serious oxfords, by the way. It's a lovely combination of girly and no-nonsense!

LOL, oh dear. Your poor head! I let my hair "go" too, so I know there is that day when it's like: okay, enough is enough, I need a wash!!

Love this outfit. Wish I felt more comfortable wearing really short dresses/skirts. You just look so good in them! I think I will have to dare...

Oh, and I like the list. But also it is annoying to do (I do it, and it annoys me). So you've been getting away with not bothering this far, I'd recommend you continue to not bother!

Haha! I don't wash my hair everyday either... I'm sure it's gonna feel better when you wash it but you look fantastic in that hat! An well, you know I'm trying to find new ways to use my hair but in this look, your hair looks so short and the length looks so good on you!!! You may think about cutting it shorter? Kisses! (oh when will you update the shop? I can'tt wait! :) )

I love the floral dress and the white-cardigan combo. So adorable on you.

You're a brave woman. I still wash my hair every day. I need to stop doing that.
I once skipped a day and I thought the hair looked ok/nice enough, but my scalp felt really oily (although it didn't look it, but the feeling of it just bugged me so much that I returned to my old habit).
2-3 days sound like a good interval to try. I will have to try..I will have to try...I'll start skipping one day between washing. Soon.

your outfit is adorable. i think any way you "detail" it is fine. i do love seeing a list of where things hailed so that if i love something and it is easily buy-able i can pick it up. i always feel redundant b/c i recycle so many pieces and shop predominantly at the same few places; however, i still like reading others'.

also, i haven't caught up on the blogging world lately, so i am not sure what your not-hair-washing motivation is, but i can say i sympathize! i used to wash mine everyday, but i got a big lecture at my hair salon (and have a ton of split ends) and have committed to every-other-day. i got tigi's dirty secret dry shampoo and it's amazing! i still feel a bit yuck, but i'm getting used to it.

I actually really like having the little shopping list at the bottom. Sometimes I'm shocked when you bring out such amazing vintage pieces that I could have sworn were bought recently from a store. It's a fun surprise!

I love this outfit. Everything just goes together perfectly.

I only recently started listing the clothing items in my photos too, it's never bothered me on anyone elses blog but I like to keep my readers happy.

Are you going "no poo"? If not this might be of interest ...

Also, calcium bentonite clay make a really good degreasing hair mask!

LOVE this dress, I love bright florals, they're so much more fun than the more muted colors I often see them in. And those shoes are great

i love the bag! it completes the adorable outfit!

please do tell what you bought at sephora. i have dark brown hair and can't get more than 2 days with the dry shampoos due to it looking ashy at the roots.

also, i love the list. even if it's all thrifted. i just like to see it.

i love your little shoes. they perfectly compliment the dress/hat!

I kind of like when people post where their outfits came from and that's why I started doing it as well. That way if you LOVE something you see you can go and purchase it for yourself so it's really a kind of compliment that folks are wanting to rock your look. Since most of your items are vintage though I guess it really doesn't matter though...unless the stores where you shop have online sites! (That would be awesome because you always dress great)

Ok, so I love your outfit and how perfect it is for a day outside! And your hat is awesome!
I like that you listed where you got stuff...you always wear such unique and amazing pieces that I always end up wondering "Where did she get that and how can I get one?!" haha

not washing your hair is the best! It is nice, like after a week or so, to wash it and have fresh, fluffy locks-but there's just this natural edge to unkempt hair that works so well with a great outfit. love it!

Your dress and hat look great. Sorry to hear you were feeling sicked out and hope you feel much better quickly. Will have to check out Sephora. I had heard good things about their makeup, but now reading about the brush makes me want to do some perusing of the rest of their products.
