Signature Collection

After taking and editing over 600 photos, I have separated a majority of my vintage into four distinct looks. Each look consists of dresses, sweaters, jackets, coats, purses, boots and accessories. I decided to start with this collection since it is sort of my signature style and in the color palette that I am most drawn to. I am personally calling it "my signature look" but I think more officially it would be sort of "Boho Ladylike." Most of the things in this collection I actually bought for myself, so I think its fitting to start my new shop out with these. I will list all of these items today through Friday (I will tweet each listing with price and size), and introduce the next collection on Monday. The other three are: World Eclectic, City Slick, and Crisp Nautical. All the photos have been edited and sorted so there should not be a hitch in my listing schedule. I am planning on putting a little look together from this collection for my blog pics tonight then will show them in my post here tomorrow. I will do the same for each collection as it is listed.

GOSH, you know, this feels really really good. Please know I don't expect you as my readers to buy all of this stuff!  I hope you don't mind that I sort of use this space as a sounding board for all of this though. It really has helped me to organize my plans and feel confident to finally let go of all of this. I have been hoarding the things you will be seeing in the next month for months and in some cases YEARS. I think I finally just realized that it is time. It is time. I am doing this. I am committing to this. This is a really big deal for me. I mean, you can't see my face right now, but I am in tears. Whoa. this is weird.  Ok , I have to go.

{EDIT: This is for anonymous Paige: You are doing everything right! I was only able to list 3 things today and two sold right away while the third is on reserve. All of the other items will be listed tomorrow between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm pacific time. If you follow me on twitter, you will be able to see exactly when each item is listed. I also tweet the size and price and provide the link so you can go right on over and get it if you like.  The links for the shop and for my twitter account are highlighted above. I apologize for the confusion and hope you see this for clarity! Thank you so much for your interest!}

Congratulations! Not just on your hard work and the new store but also on getting to the point where you are able to let some old things go. By doing so, you are opening yourself up to new experiences and new energy. That's what I believe, anyway! :-)

Hi Cristina!

i have been reading your blog for awhile, but have been mostly a silent reader, it's weird in person i am very outgoing but in these little comment boxes i find myself at a lost for words. and become shy. maybe it's because i like to see people face to face and use my hands or whatnot and i can't see your reaction, to know if you are creeped out, encouraged or bored.

i just really felt compelled to say something after reading that you had tears in your eyes, knowing that you are moving towards a goal that is important to you. and that it feels good. really good. i am excited to see what comes of this newly focused venture of yours. and if i had lots of spare money, i would buy all of your boots and belts.

oh, and from reading your blog i have been encouraged to start my own style blog, i have been wanting to for awhile, but i guess i have just been afraid. but.not.anymore.

it's empty. but baby steps, right? baby steps.

Thank you,
meg

This is awesome! I'm so glad you have found a way you feel good about to part with your treasures - I am just starting to sell some things of mine on etsy and I can totally identify. Nearly everything I am selling I bought for myself, but I need to pare down my possessions in anticipation of a long trip overseas so I've had to begin parting with things I've had for almost a decade! But it's felt so much better to send my much-loved vintage stuff to other people who I know will love it just as much. I really love your idea to sort your pieces into collections - it tells a really beautiful, cohesive story. You could even do a mini-lookbook for each collection.

Also, I don't know if you are up for reserving any items you've posted here, but I would happily send you a kidney for that black, white & tan beaded necklace (3rd column, 5th row). Or baked goods, or craft projects. Or currency. Or anything at all you'd like from my shop (theotheremily.etsy.com), which will have many more listings after this weekend. It's so gorgeous it kind of makes me hyperventilate....

Hi! I'm so new to all this blog and etsy stuff but I really, really like some of the things you have for sale. I went to your etsy site to shop but I only saw one thing listed (a beautiful handbag) and am curious if I'm just a nincompoop and can't figure out how to see the rest of your items. I don't even know how you would respond to me but am hoping somehow I can figure out how to purchase a couple of things, namely a pair of the pumps and that beautiful overcoat. Thanks Paige

Good for you for doing this! I love that you've created cohesive collections--I'm a huge advocate of that concept.

I've been considering purging, and though I am still finding it difficult to let go, I really appreciate the inspiration...

Gorgeous stuff! I can't believe I fell behind reading because I fell in LOVE with that brown leather purse and it's sold! Gah!

And the thing that's kept me reading your blog for so long (reading, not commenting, but I'm working on it!) is that I get to see your thought process and the emotions associated with it. I love that you use this blog as a sounding board. And I love your style!

I am so proud of you.
Not only for the gumption to do what you have always wanted to do. But for sharing the behind the scenes moments of it as well. To craft a persona and then fearlessly share what goes on behind it. That bonds me to you, creates attachment and affection.

Your new shop, your re-newed commitment is amazing. Branding, and sharing your unique and sweet stylish vision of the world. Through clothes.

Best of luck. And I love so much of your stuff. -Bella Q
