What is permanent?

I have sold several variations of this dress, but I am keeping this one. I tell myself that it is OK to keep one very perfect specimen from each "style" of vintage dress (unless the pattern or print is just amazing then I can keep more, say, "day dresses") and I do believe that this here is the most perfect version of this type of dress I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Hand embroidered flowers, perfect mid length, bright but not kitschy colors.  Unless I find something incredibly better than this, its going into my permanent collection.  Does any other seller have a permanent collection?  I find that I have to have one to cope with the loss. Of course my idea of what stays in there changes each season.  I have already sold off most of last year's "permanent collection" and have started a new one now. One day next year I will be feeling a fire under my bootie to sell some stuff and this years top picks will get to the shop, but its nice to think that I MIGHT have this forever. Its not likely but its comforting to tell myself that!   Ah well, nothing stays forever right?

Dress: thifted vintage
Shoes: seychelles
Belt, purse, bracelets: thrifted

Kudos for keeping that dress; it's a good one. Fantastic shoes with it also. Love your blog! XO

Ive heard that eye size is permanent. Birth to adult. Same size. That's all I've got. :)

I do love that dress! Glad you're keeping it, at least for now!

Hmm this is tricky. I've started buying more vintage for myself and I can't see myself parting with most of it. If I have an item I really love but hardly ever wear, I'll put it in the shop for a bit more $$. This way I can feel better because a)it wont sell and I can greedily keep wearing it (muahahaha) or b) if it does sell, atleast I can use the money to buy some other treasure.
I am going to my parents for the weekend and will be checking out the church basement sale and flea market, I'm pretty excited to find some new(old) stuff! It's really so hard to not just look for me me me though haha.
p.s. I totally forgot about those shoes, I haven't worn mine in weeks!!

I have a navy blue version of this frock sitting in my closet. I keep thinking I should make it sleeveless and I'll wear it, but this post is making me want to keep it as is.

A perfect specimen, indeed!

And those flowers are just perfect (yes, perfect seems to be the only fitting word). It makes me want to buy this sweater that Paige just listed that I said I didn't really need. But the flowers are perfect and rounded and a little bit silly on the sweater, too.

Aye...

Also, excuse me: can we talk about those Ray Bans?????

!!!

AH!

you want to know something ridiculously crazy? i'm fairly sure I almost bought that exact dress (no, not a look alike, i mean that one your wearing) at the Goodwill in Carson just the other day. I was still kicking myself for putting it back until I opened up your post and went "oh, so thats who it was meant to be worn by." So glad it found a good home and an owner who loves it as much as I did.

love and coincidences,

yep, i do the same. i don't call my collection 'permanent' but 'revolving.' you know, like when you go to a museum and they have a revolving collection of art pieces that they bring out for a time and then cycle them out for the new. that's my closet. so far i think it's working beautifully :)

It IS actually, perfect! A definite keeper in my book, though I do not know the perils of being a vintage seller.

My brother-in-law and his new wife (my new sister-in-law) picked up a little embroidered dress like this for Evelyn on their honeymoon in Mexico. I love it. It's so beautiful. I love that you paired it with these shoes. They are some of my favorite that you own. (That was a horribly written sentence. Haha.)

That dress is perfect. I always love those embroidered dresses, but they can look like a costume. Yours is just right. Do you ever sell accessories on etsy? I have belt envy. That dang belt goes with everything! I have not found such a perfect belt. If you have other perfect belts, I would definately buy one!

This may be the most perfect dress of all time in all universes :)
It is perfect. You are a magnet for all things beautiful :)
I am trying so hard to change my way of thinking, more Zen, but since I lost my girl-part (in utero ;) I have a severe case of AADD, which keeps me in a tizzy lately. I have a hard time hanging on to "stuff" and letting it go. I'm either hoarding or getting rid of everything !!!

You kept the perfect one girl! It's looks great on you, the embroidery is just amazing. You know, I never really knew how popular embroidered dresses were until I put one in my shop a month ago and it sold instantly! Maybe I should keep on the lookout for more...
