warm blanket

I have been going to sleep very early lately. It's mostly due to the fact that my body is valiantly fighting off some type of virus.  I have not been sick for such a long time (since March) and while I was quite a sickly bird for most of my 20s, I for some reason thought I was simply never going to get sick again now that I am in my 30s and taking good care of myself and all that jazz.  You can imagine my surprise and disbelief when my throat began to get sore last Wednesday and continues to fester into this week.  WTF pretty much.  Especially with my birthday coming up.  The trouble is, I sort of refuse to go to the doctor unless I can't talk or breathe, or I am bleeding out of my eyes.  I have this crazy notion that GOOD FOOD and WATER and SLEEP are all I need to heal.  Doesn't that sound right to you?  Well. it does to me.

In any case, I didn't actually wear this on Monday to have lunch with my oldest friend (known her since we were 7, knows what my bad breath smells like, has watched me pop pimples, still loves me.)  She gave me this dress.  Along with some other very nice things.  She told me it was the only real actual vintage thrifted item she had, and she tried really hard to wear it but just couldn't.  It's not her thing.  I told her I thought it was cool and that I would give it a whirl. Here is my whirl.  I think its pretty cute! Kind of Mad Men Right? (I have never officially watched that show so I guess I am guessing) Of course this sweater has magical powers and can make just about anything seem right (found it in the blanket section of a Goodwill).

So lets make that FOOD, WATER, SLEEP, FRIENDS, VINTAGE and a WARM BLANKET.  Should be feeling better in no time. All hail Natural remedies!

Dress: gift
Sweater: hand knit thrifted
Boots: Nordstrom brand I think from last year
scarf: DVF vintage thrifted

Oh I love that dress - and those BOOTS!

I'm the same way, I never, ever go to the doctor. My husband says I could be bleeding out of my eyes and would probably just wave a hand and say, "Don't worry about it, I'll be fine in a little bit."

Yes, good food, lots of water, lots of sleep.

Hope you feel better soon!

Love the outfit, but what great find with the sweater!!! It looks like something my grandma would have made.

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Have you tried some honey for your throat?

i'm so the same way about the doctor. matt is too. i had to take the little one to the doc yesterday cuz his fever spiked to 102! turns out he has strep so i'm glad we went :) now if it were me, i'd probs still go for a run in a feverish haze.

Doctors AND dentists? REALLY? Love the sweater, but I like your hair better down, long and "flow-y."

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Keep on sleeping and I'll throw some feel better vibes your way!

And, to be completely honest, if I could steal just one item from your closet it very well may be this sweater. I remember it from last winter and I drool over it every time! It was the one from last winter and I'm not just crazy, right? Haha

I feel the same way about the doctor. I also have this crazy thing about taking aspirin. I would rather suffer through a headache than a pop a pill for it. I'm afraid the effectiveness will wear down and I won't be able to use it when I really need it!

I'm crazy. I know.
