the spectacular spiderman

In case I never told you, or just don't say it very often, I have a pretty good man.  Not just pretty good.  He's Really Wonderful.  There are LOTS of reasons I say this, but the most recent (Ahem, blog appropriate) one is that after a really fantastic camping trip, he took me into the city (Sacramento) for some birthday shopping. REAL actual retail shopping*.  I bought some Jeans at AE, HAD a huge grip of blouses at F21 that I felt super weird about and ended up dumping back on the shelf and walking out (this was not an ethical or elitist action I assure you, though I guess there are those issues floating around, I just got irritated with the line being so long and had some time to reevaluate my true motivation for buying the stuff and out of weird emotional turmoil, just decided that I didn't need it) then hit the shoe sale at Nordstrom.  I got these shoes. Yes. And I am freaking happy about it. After the mall The Brilliant Man saw a Goodwill while we were on an accidental detour (I think he knew it was there). Of course he stopped (didn't even have to ask) and that is were the true magic happened. Good thing I put those blouses away because the thrifting gods looked favorably upon me and bestowed me with a cart full of my new fall wardrobe. F21 doesn't hold a candle to this stuff. While I shopped for more than 45 minutes, this man waited patiently in the car reading. . .  AND congratulated me on my haul when I got back.  I understand that these are sort of simple things I have listed here and I could really list about 11 years worth of pretty awesome things, but do you really think I would choose to live with an oaf?  No Way. Just take my word, he's a Freaking Spectacular Man. Like a super hero, but FOR REAL. That is all.

*I don't get to shop retail often so this is a quarterly treat for me.

Okay but can he REALLY scale buildings like Spiderman? :)

He sounds wonderful and you totally deserve someone that will treat you with such surprise and grandeur!

You look especially fantastic in the jeans, those shoes and that blouse. I love it! I wish I looked that good in cuffed jeans but I'm way too short to pull that off.

Looks like you're growing out your fringe. Yay!! Your husband sounds like a very caring man, and it was sweet of him to "accidentally" come across the Goodwill. Nice gift!!

Aw, what an awesome hubby you have!

Sounds like your birthday shopping spree ended fabulously with good ole GW ~ one of my fav's since we don't have very many local shops here.

Very sweet. :) I love when my guy waits patiently while I shop. Funny enough, he does much better at thrift stores than the mall.

Every single time I've gone shopping at F21, I find a few things that I fall in love with, get into the line then give up because the line is so freaking long.

BTW: those jeans are hot.

I feel like wearing that today...that blouse is beautiful. Those shoes are great. I think I'll hit my Goodwill today. I'm feeling lucky.

Your Man truly does sound wonderful! Any guy who encourages shopping, and is willing to patiently wait is a good catch!

I am always amazed when my hubby is ok with me buying my millionth pair of shoes...this is what recently happened...I said "I really want to buy these shoes online, but I guess I can wait a bit until since we might not have a ton of spare money for a bit" (Oct 1 we take possession of our 2nd house...ideally we would have liked to have sold the first one before buying the 2nd...but it's a bad market)...so I was totally expecting him to tell me to wait...or not get them at all..and he said "Go ahead if you want them"...so less than 10mins later the order had been placed..haha...and it's not anywhere near my b-day!!

On a fashion related note, I love you floral blouse...they've been catching my eye lately, but I'm not sure I could pull one off!

PS. Happy Belated Birthday!

Oh, Lovely!!!!

And what a wonderful man, indeed. Sitting in the car while you thrift... adorable.

And I also want you to know that whenever I read the word "Spiderman"... I read it as a French person: "Speederman".

See, there's this french Mardi Gras song that talks about all of the costumes and masks that people wear for the celebration and he lists Superman, Speederman, D'Artagnan, Napoleon...

Then he says, "Derrier mon loupe, je brassez qui je veux, je veux, deviner, deviner, deviner qui je sui" (I'm sure I spelled all of those words wrong, but I love the translation).

Meaning: "Behind my mask I kiss who I want, who I want, whoever, whoever, whoever I want".

Adieu,

Haiku.

Hi again.

I just wanted to update you and any potential French people in the building that I was correct in assuming I spelled all of that wrong. I think I may have forgotten the proper translation over time as well.

Here's what I wrote as translated by a translator:

"Derrier my magnifying glass, I toss that I want, I want, guess, guess, guess that I am"

So, a word to the wise: don't trust anything I say if it isn't in English.

Hey!
i absolutley adore your jeans! they seem to fit you perfectly! y always have a problem with them cause i'm 5.2'' (latina, obviosuly) and even though i'm proportionate i have big hips. so if you have any advice with jean, that would be great.
thanks for everything!

This is so sweet. I hope he's going to read this ode to him.
And even though they're simple things, they're still important. That thrifting story I can especially relate to. The fun can really drain out of it if you don't have an understanding companion.

the Man deserves props! I have a Man like that too. In fact, he sometimes comes IN with me and while he doesn't shop for clothing, he finds things HE can fix. The past week it was a wind up chiming clock...

outfit: beautiful. top: beautiful. photos: beautiful.

I know what you mean about thrifting and scoring ten times better than retail! I'll be in the stores and thinking: "Pah, I can thrift that for a tenth of the price!" And so much better quality often, and more unique!

Oh, and your husband sounds a lot like mine. I bet we would make good "couple friends". There are less kind to each other couples than one would hope out there (and those are the best couples to hang out with!). And you two definitely seem kind to one another!

Having a wonderful partner is the best! I also have an amazing husband and feel very lucky about it.

Those shoes are fantastic, and I am diggin' this whole look!

Ahhhh there's nothing like good thrift shopping (and the high that comes afterwards!)! Your husband is awesome for recognizing that. I'm originally from Sac, and there was a thrift store across the street from my house that I would go to pretty much every day. Lord, I found so much awesome stuff there. It closed after I went away to college and I've never gotten over it. *sigh* Nothing's come close since.
