On pins and needles

Maybe I am an odd duck. While I admit I do not enjoy the doctor's or dentist's offices, I will willingly go to an acupuncturist and get small needles poked into me all over my body.  I practically begged for it yesterday.  And after wasting 2 hours at the urgent care ("looks like you just need some rest and vitamin c" thanks doc!) I did get in to see my acupuncturist and not only did my sore throat go away, but my anxiety, sad feelings, exhaustion, sore shoulder joint and pessimism! WOW right!  Sounds like a freaking miracle!  I think it just goes to show that a lot of my problems are just all in my head. OR, Begin in my head and manifest in my body.  I think I MAKE myself sick by worrying about random things. I have talked about acupuncture here on the blog before and a few people said they were going to pursue their own treatment. Are you still out there?  Did you?  Has anyone else found it to help?  I mean she said "move your shoulder." I did, ouch pain. So she wiggled a needle into the opposite outer calf a few times and was like "OK, now try it."  GONE. What the WHAT?  I was SINGING in the car on the way home.  With GLEE. I have not felt GLEE for a full week now. Giddy. Silly happy. Relieved.  Granted, my symptoms were minor. I am not battling any diseases or chronic illnesses so I am at an advantage there, but seriously, acupuncture is my cure all for general mind funk.  I strongly suggest it. In case you were wondering.

Now, the reason I was so proactive about curing myself PRONTO:  I will be out nature camping for the next few days.  CAN NOT WAIT!! I may schedule a little post while I am gone, but, maybe I won't.  Just be off the grid. Sounds so good.  Enjoy the rest of your week!

You look fantastic in that long skirt. I love it paired with the fitted top and vest.

My sister-in-law went to school for eastern medicine and acupuncture, she used to treat my husband for his back pain. She and my brother moved out of state though, so not so much with that anymore.

I have an incredible fear of needles, so it's not something I'd try!

I'm really interested in acupuncture. For the first three years after my daughter was born, I was on anti-anxiety/depression medicine. Recently, I weened myself off of them because I hated how they numbed me and how I felt if I missed a pill. It was terrible. Do you have any other information about it, or will it depend on the state that it is done in?

I've never done acupuncture myself, but the bf has with good results. I've heard it's good for PMS symptoms too. Love that skirt btw.

Did the acupuncture fix your aching tooth as well? Love your outfit, and you wear it so well!! I'll miss your blog while you're communing with nature.

I have always been curious about acupuncture, but no one I know has tried it. How is it on the wallet? Is it about the same as a usual co-pay for Dr. office ~ between $15 to $25?

Enjoy your wilderness experience!

i LOVE acupuncture! i am a strong believer. i've only used it for physical ailments - carpel tunnel (ow), and it made an amazing difference.

glad you had a great treatment and are feeling better.

ENJOY YOUR OFF THE GRID TIME!

The human body is such an amazing thing, isn't it? It's too bad that most people in your situation would have just filled an antibiotics prescription!

You are gorgeous! Really! Well that's nothing new, but that's just what I thought when looking at your outfit photos. :)

I never tried acupuncture before. I am afraid of needles so I just never thought this is an option. Haha. But maybe someday.

enjoy your camping trip! maybe i will look into accupuncture when i get back home, i really feel like i need a major unwind and de-stress, i'm getting frustrated at how quickly i get extremely stressed and upset about things, and how long that lasts.

LOVE acupuncture!!!! I agree with your thoughts entirely! I have used it both for physical symptoms as well as mental ones. Works great for both! I am also a huge fan of rolfing...

You look fabulous as usual! Have fun camping!

I've been receiving acupuncture treatments for about 4 to 5 months now, for endometrosis. Prior to that, I had a lap surgery to remove scarring from my uterus, only to make the endo pain worse. Far worse. Now, I'm relatively pain-free and experience regular monthly cycles, and I think a large part of it is the acupuncture treatments I've been receiving, along with Chinese herbal medicine. I was skeptical of the practice, but now think it does have some positive effect on the human body.
p.s. love the outfit! :)

Never tried acupuncture, but I've always been curious about it! So I'm assuming you strongly recommend it. Maybe I will have to get an appointment right before exams ;)

I have been wanting to try acupuncture for a while now, in conjunction with therapy that I started recently, for stress, so I'm always interested to hear about others' experience with it. I just think I'd like to try it instead of resorting to medicine - not that there's anything wrong with it - to each his own, I would just like to try something outside of the box for me.

Gorgeous photography, as usual!

How do you so consistently look so amazingly effortlessly cool?

Yeah, wow times a million. This outfit is BRILLIANT.

Have fun camping! ps. want to see what you wear camping, so take pictures if you're motivated!

Oh, and those shoes I have that you love? Here's a similar pair

If you do want them, I recommend getting a half size down.

I've heard some really great things about acupuncture, but i'm still way too scared to try it! And have fun camping!

great pictures, great outfit, I think accupuncture is great. It makes sense to me...getting your circuits tweaked so the signals run smoothly. Not scary at all...they aren't like real needles. Have fun on your getaway!

i'm really into holistic and alternative medicines, thanks for sharing your experiences. i've never tried acupuncture, but it makes sense. i had an nursing instructor who was a reiki master and i thought she was a little crazy, but the patients loved her and were instantly calmed when she did her... um reiki healing stuff touch with them. i wonder if acupunture helps for sleep issues. i'd be into something like that. have fun camping! :)

i really love your outfit, your skirt is awesome.

Glad you feel better, I think people should do whatever works for them, I haven't tried acupuncture, but if I had to I would after hearing about your experience. You never know unless you give it a go :)

I am something of a lurker and really admire your style. Never felt compelled to comment until now.

I whole heartedly endorse acupunture. Last year I threw out my back. Threw it right the hell out. Couldn't walk, breathe fully, roll over, sit down without excruciating pain, etc. You get the idea. When I stood it was slowly and by the time I was "upright" my back was not straight. Could not be straight. I can't express how fully it effected my life. Within an hour of hurting myself I was on prescription muscle relaxers - they made no dent. I followed that up with ice and rest - still no real dent. Two days later I was able to get an appointment with a massage therapist - I felt better about being in pain, but I was still in pain and still all crooked-like. On the third day, still unable to stand upright, I went to an acupuncturist. Again, I could not stand up straight when I went on the table. It took me 5 minutes just to ease myself on the table. When my session was over and she told me to get up, I did. I just got up. I stood up straight. Immediately. I wasn't 100% healed, I could still feel it twinging if I moved too suddenly, but the improvement was vast and the only thing I'd changed was going to the acupuncturist.

If any of your readers have gotten through my rather lengthy testimonial (sorry), I hope you give acupuncture a chance...aaaand scene.

I''ve been thinking of trying acupuncture. I've been having back pain. Glad to hear someone who goes and enjoys it. Cute outfit!

I'm glad it works so well for you. I've had massages with similar results.

The one time I tried acupuncture was stop smoking. Basically, it anesthetized my sinuses for two weeks--at which point I resumed. Aaargh.

Love, love, love your skirt.
I have never had acupuncture. I am not a fan of any needle if it's coming at me.
I have no problem watching other people get stuck, just can't have it done myself.
