It's party time

In my fantasy, there would be a party this weekend where this would be absolutely appropriate.  I am sure somewhere in this world there is one. It is just not happening within driving range of me. I found this at the Goodwill in Sacramento last weekend and I ALMOST put it back because I thought, "where on earth will you wear this?" and since I feel guilty about the stockpiles of potential etsy listing material in my studio, I put it back on the rack. An older woman with a really thick accent, from, maybe Italy or Greece, put her hand on it and paused, took a deep breath, then with the most puzzled look said, "You are not getting this? It is Beautiful." (this really happened) Of course I had to get it then.  She seemed to know what she was talking about.  I trust old ladies. They have seen some things in their life. Accumulated wisdom.  And the way she touched it made me feel like it was magical or something (let me have my quirks). I slipped it on when I got home and nearly gasped.  I am not sure if you are feeling this dress, but even if you are not it just doesn't matter to me. I think this is maybe the most pretty dress I own. I styled it for fall.  I want to just wear it. drinking tea. going to the store. taking my son to school. It would be appropriate for a fantasy party, but you know what? It makes my whole life feel like a party when I wear it (which has been for daily 1 hour stints since Sunday.) Anytime I want I can just slip it on, and it's party time.

It IS magical. I never would have thought to style it like you did, with the beret and the plaid belt, but I love it so much. It seems like it was made for you.

When no ones having the party you want to go to...throw it yourself! The dress is so beautiful...I see things I love, but the practical side of me always wins out. (I wore black for about five years, no kidding)We can wear ANYTHING we want to...it's sad that too often we box ourselves in. You inspire me to step out of my fashion comfort zone!

I just wanted to say that I found your blog this last week and had to read all your entries. I've felt slightly stockerish while getting to know you. (so I thought I would leave a comment breaking some of the silence and anonymousness of the whole situation) I'm not much for being very creative fashionable but have enjoyed dreaming along with your posts.
By the way love the dress :)

The dress is absolutly stunning! The older lady was definatly a wise one!!
I really love the sleeve/collar thingy...the details are amazing...
I think the dress could be seen as frumpy if it wasn't styled right...but the wide belt and heels are perfect!

This is lovely and I really like what you've done with the belt. I'm pondering where I would wear it...

I'm totally feeling it. Gooooorgeous maxi length dress, and so perfect for fall! I imagine it looking great with a pair of boots, a chunky scarf, a fitted jacket and a floppy boho hat.

Gosh I adore you. YES. You look lovely. I love that you have been wearing the dress everyday! And I love how you have styled it: so perfect.

And oh, that's my philosphy too: dress up every day like it's something special. Because everyday IS special.

Oh, and I always listen to elderly people too. They always gave us the best parenting advice when Soren was little, and it was always the same advice: "Enjoy him." If that doesn't say something for the wisdom of old people, I don't know what does!

Love Love Love this dress and your blog! Great ideas on here...you're making me want to step out of the box! Thanks! BTW, if your friend could read the post you wrote (the one with you wearing the sweater she got for you), she would hug your neck and all would be forgiven.
