Thrift Gift

I really like the idea of "thrift gifts."  I find things all of the time that make me think "Oh, my goodness! I have to get these chains for Merl!" or "Oh dang these shoes are STELLAR but they are size 6.5!! Perfect for Paige!!"  So I buy the things and have every intention of sending them as little thrifted gifts (I have more for so many random people that I will one day contact and get shipping info for.)  Sometimes people even send me things they have thrifted!  I received THE coolest vest from Merl a few weeks ago (have a plan for it but it needs to cool off)  and actually this dress I am wearing (a silk Calvin Klein skirt that I hiked up and belted) was a thrift gift from a cool nurse/ mom/ magazine editor/ organic Hawaiian farm tender now living in New Mexico named Kimber! (Kimber also happens to be from same mold as me and sent me pictures to show me!  Astonishing really!) Such a sweet gesture and what a great gift!  I love the cream and black print so much!  And going with my current red interest, couldn't help but rugged it up with these boots.  Thank you so much Kimber!  Its really great!

Dress: gift
boots, belt, accessories: thrifted

The dress is so beautiful! Reminds me of an orange dress that my aunt had given to me, I think should give it a try! I loved your combination, with the belt and the necklace it's so elegant and with the boots, it's really so fun!

Awww that's awesome. the dress rocks. I need more thrift gifts haha.
I often find amazing things that dont fit me, they end up in the shop but I should keep an eye out for my blogging friends.
If you find any amazing size 6 footwear, I am alll for getting gifts. ;)

that belt and dress combo is KILLER

'thrift gift' I love that term! a couple of times I've seen stuff in op shops that have made me think of particular bloggers but figured I'd seem like some obsessed creeper if I were to ask them to send them something heehee, I guess it is different when you sort of 'know them' though.

Just tonight I was thinking I need some cowboy boots, and here you go making me just the teensiest bit envious (I am massively under-exaggerating by the way)

Um, speaking of thrift gifts... what size shoe do you wear? I have a pair of oxfords that are too small for me that a friend gave me. I was going to give them to Nickie but then Mel said that Nickie really only wears heels. I would be happy to send them your way because right now they are cluttering my closet.

You always seem to find the best way of looking at clothing. You see a scarf, why not make it a cute top? You see a skirt, cute dress! I wish I had that kind of sense to see what something could be.

I almost bought these EXACT boots in black yesterday at the Goodwill. I've been kicking myself for not. Once I saw your post, it made me want to cry! I'm re-visiting today and hoping they're still there!

You're always adorable, and when you started going blonde, I was hoping it wasn't going to last long. But looking through your old posts, I LOVE you as a blonde, I'm sorry I doubted you!

Gorgeous! Something about black and white in the summer is so very chic. And the red boots totally make it for me.

What a wonderful gift!

I love the dress. I think it is much better as a dress than a skirt. The print is really great to. I also really like the belt you used.

I also gave you a small blog award on my blog because your blog is one of my favorites and the first blog I started reading :) Nothing big, just wanted to show my appreciation!

That belt is awesome. It really splits your body up and gives you a long lean look. I've been looking for boots in thrift stores lately and haven't had any luck. Crossing my fingers!

Whoooooaaaaaa.

What's black and white and red all over?

You.

And me!

Today!

That's awesome!

I'm already in a wonderful mood and this just amplified it.

Like to eleven.

You make me go to eleven.

And that belt makes me want to scream. And then have very fancy desserts.

I love the thrift gift concept!! Unfortunatly I don't have good luck thrifting..or maybe I just don't take the time enough...but whenever I shop at my favorite cheap stores quite often I will come across something that I really love and know my friend Bri will love as well..so I usually buy one for her and one for me...so not a thrif gift...but a cheap present..haha
ummm I'm SO jealous of these boots...they are sooooo amazing!!

aw man I wish I had thrift gift friends :( that sounds awesome! I'd just like to tell you you look awesome as always, and regarding an earlier post: you do not seem immature at all. I hate men and women alike who feel like they should become all serious and boring when they "grow up". Everyone acts childish from time to time. Allowing yourself to be a child sometimes makes you more mature than clinging to the idea that being serious suddenly makes you mature, if you ask me.

Oh, and those outfits that you don't dare to wear out? The one with the ruffly bikini top is <3

and I wishhhh I had a seethrough dress to wear with hotpants as I LOVE that look, I've been wanting to try that for ages!

B-A-utiful as always. I love the dress with that super-wide belt, it's so flattering. And in a different sense of the term, it's so flattering that people send you clothing! I think that so awesome and just proof of how cool the blogger community is. It's just full of sweet little gestures like that.

okay, so i was one of the folks who commented on how fabulous your hair looks in the previous posts. i watched your video and you are truly so-scarlett. Unfortunately, you were born with a fabulous head of hair i wasn't. I think we have similar hair cuts by mine looks no where near as badass as yours. i wish i had your thickness and natural curl, although i might try your wave product. Love your block, you never dissapoint!

Those boots are insanely awesome!

How sweet! I do that too. I always find things that I think others would like and sometime I send them out. I do that too with beauty product because I tend to get a lot of it and most of it isn't for me. So i send it to readers or other bloggers I follow.

I'm obsessed with your boots xx. I almost bought a second pair of cowboy boots this weekend, but I managed to stop myself - what does an nyc girl really need TWO pairs of cowboy boots for?? I also love how you put them with this sweet little dress. Such flair you have, my dear.
