I am not a plumber.

Things I learned yesterday:

  1. Ugly can be pretty too. Thank you Paige.
  2. You guys REALLY want that Bangle Set from yesterday (and you have till Saturday night to enter to win it). Thank you DesignerApparel.com
  3. If I endure hideous amounts of stress, the pants that I received in the mail, that fit perfectly when they arrived, will be a might too big the next week. Dangit stress.
  4. Sometimes you don't even have to meet someone in person to know that they are absolutely incredible and will be in your life, maybe, forever. Thank you internet.
  5. That leak I have been dealing with, trying to fix and plug and fill, exhausting myself and all that: it was never my leak to fill, fix or mend in the first place.  Nor was any other leak that plopped itself on my doorstep.  I can't fix leaks, and I don't want to. Leaks have the power to fix themselves, and they are the only ones that can.  Thank you meeting.
  6. I still feel like I should try though. Dangit brain.
  7. I have to go to more meetings.  Thank you brain.
  8. Brautigan is a genius.  Thank you Zoe
  9. People are amazing. Thank you people.
  10. I am thankful. Thank you me.

Pants: Vintage from Barefoot & Vintage (I will grow back into them, don't worry)
Shirt, shoes, bangles: thrifted
Purse: treasured gift

An editor of mine once said everything works out in the end. If it hasn't worked out, that's how you know it's not the end. I don't know if it's any consolation, but your style is inspiring!

The pants are adorable! So is your style... and your sense of humor. I think I smile every time I log on to your blog! Have a great day... take a moment to yourself to just breathe!

I have been following your blog for awhile but have only recently figured out how to post comments (I know!) after I started my own blog.

You have an incredible blog, both the photos and the writing is superb!

A few things...

1 - I tried to think of a way to reply to your metaphor in a related metaphor, unsuccessfully. Just wanted you to know that I tried. I sincerely hope that the holes fix themselves up soon, for all involved.

2 - I got mega bored of my hair tonight, decided I needed to re-cut my fringe, and while I was at it, remembered your hair cutting video, and copied it from what I could recall. I just hacked at it basically and I love it. I think this is especially good because my hair is chin length so this could have been a disaster hee hee.

3 - I think there was a third one but I can't remember now, I took too long on the first two.

Glad to see that despite your stress, there are still things that you can be thankful for and laugh about.

I think the pants look great on you. I love the pockets on the front and I really love the shoes. I want the shoes. :)

My first thought: those pants fit you perfectly! You look awesome!

My husband's first comment: she's got her pants on backwards.

Oh dear. MEN! ;-)

Glad you seem so happy! You look beautiful in this!

Well stress makes things like that, you should be aware of that, especially the big ones... I'm thankful to internet for the same reason of yours in 4th. I'm glad the meeting was helpful and I'm sure you'll still try to fix things! But that's also good I think... And thank you for just being yourself... (I'm not answering I'm just going from your way of expressing things)

By the way these photos look so natural, you look as if you're hiding your face from the camera but I can understand the reason but the outfit+photos turned out very nice I guess... Love you!

I hear you on the leaks. Sorry to hear that you're going through a stressful situation.

On a lighter note, I love this look. Those pants are awesome. And your hair looks especially pretty here. Rock on and hang in there!

Great post, and since you mentioned meetings...I'm curious. I go to meetings every week too, they sound a lot like yours, and I couldnt live my life successfully without them...I learn a lot of the same things about leaks as you mentioned...mine are Al-Anon meetings.

Don't you worry, leaks do tend to fix themselves. Keep your head up and stay beautiful : )

Leaks and plugs and plumbers -- gosh, I thought extended metaphors stopped past English class. Well, if today is for confessing thanks, then here it goes: your posts are witty and personable and even though I'm just staring at a fluorescent computer screen, there's a real person on the other side of the screen typing furiously at a keyboard, and I'm glad I decided to pursue her past Chictopia, because I like reading what she's got to say. Oh, and it helps that she knows how to dress. Nice pants, by the way. The stitching and pockets are just lovely.

These are beautiful things to have learned.

It's funny you mention Brautigan today because one of the things that I enjoy most about reading him (would that be the right phrase? I think not) is to read a chapter or a poem without reading the title. Then, after reading the piece, go back and read the title. It always makes more sense, even if the title seems non-sequitur at first.

Your post today kind of encapsulated that. "I am not a plumber" is a very brilliant claim to make. Nice mantra.

Especially when I instinctively thought you were referencing a certain occupational butt-crack exhibition.

Also, these pants are so great that it makes me want to pack a picnic and hitch-hike all the way down to NV just so that I can toast you in person. And see how many different things I could fit in your pockets.

I agree, ugly can be pretty too. You can have an "ugly" blazer and pair it with a nice pair of skinnies and a plain tee and rock it..

don't stress too much girlie =]
