random repeat

I have never done a proper "About Me" post, mostly since I feel like I write about myself and what I think about everyday.  You see pics of me and sometimes read my babble (which in some ways is more "ME" than the facts of my life), but may not know other identifying facts. I guess since there was no introductory post for this blog, and from my profile you may not be able to tell much about me except that I may be a nudist (though you see me in clothes every day so, obviously I am not.) When I got the question in my formspring asking if I could do an "about me" post, I assumed you meant, like the facts about me, like where I am from and what I have done, So I will give some of that info here now.

Hi!  My name is Christina!  I am 30 years old, a wife for the last 8 years, a mom for the last 5.  I live in a small town in Northern Nevada and have enjoyed rural life for about 9 years now.  I got my BA majoring in Ceramic Sculpture, worked in the arts industry for a few years (first a non profit organizing art exhibitions and facilitating visiting artist programs and PR, then teaching yoga and facilitating art therapy for individuals with eating disorders) and now enjoy being a stay at home mom selling vintage clothing while my son is in preschool.  My birthday is in September (my favorite month of the year) My favorite season is summer, favorite color is burnt, rusty, orange, and my favorite smells are bergamot, lemon verbena, black pepper, and wet dirt.  I wear Gypsy Water perfume.  My favorite foods are salty and crispy.  I love reading and stick to non fiction because I always want to learn about something new. My current book is "Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error," by Kathryn Schultz.  I heard about it in NPR, the only radio station I listen to.  I do love music though and I love to dance! My current obsession is The Black Keys (I downloaded every single one of their albums and have been listening to them on random repeat for the past week.  I will not stop until I am introduced to something new, then I will proceed to have sex with that new album/song/group till the next thing comes around. Random Repeat).  The only plants I have ever been able to keep alive ever are Orchids.  I have 7 of them in my kitchen window (gifts from my husband).  I am madly in love.  With my husband, my son, and myself.  I may not have any more children since I love that we are three.  I feel strong emotional urges to do things when the time is right (quit jobs, have babies, make changes) and wait for these promptings before acting.  If I don't feel it, I don't do it. I love people and love groups of people, but prefer to interact with them one on one in person.  I hate calling people on the phone generally (though I don't mind when people call me).  I am also bad at emailing or any type of communication that is not face to face.  I do not frequently feel lonely and I love time alone, though I wish I had more friends and understand that this is my fault since a part of me does sort of like not having too many.  I actually like it when girls cuss.  I think a subtle tough girl attitude mixed with humor and humbleness is so attractive.  I do yoga, though not very often lately.  I don't have television stations, but we rent shows, my favorites being Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Conchords, Little Britain, the British version of The Office, Family Guy, Penn and Teller's Bull Shit, Sea Lab, Pingu, and Shawn the Sheep.  My favorite movies are High Fidelity, True Romance, American Psycho, and very dark comedies like Your Friends and Neighbors, Happiness, and Welcome to the Doll House. I know The Princess Bride by heart. I like the smell of my own BO and farts but most people do I guess, and I use a soft, compact tooth brush, but have not been to the dentist in years (worst hate).

I mean, lets see, is there anything else?  A little over indulgent, but its a free internet space.  You don't have to read all that stuff if you are in a rush or don't really care.  I won't take it personally.  That is just how it is sometimes.

Shoes: Old Navy
Belt: gift from old friend

Happiness AND Welcome To The Dollhouse? Very nice :o) I'm a fan of very dark movies, and while I don't know if I could ever watch them again, they will forever be engraved in my mind.

That post made me fall in love with you all over again! (not in a creepy way!) But love how you've outlined funny minor details.

This skirt is divine (I hardly ever use that word but feel appropriate on this occasion!)

Have a good weekend.

wow this quite a fascinating list! It always intrigues me to see what people think makes for a good about me post, it shows what they value and find important. I feel like I already knew a lot of what you wrote, mostly about jobs and your family, but I was fascinated learn about your favorite smells (black pepper) and your love or orchids

I love Verbena, it's such a good scent. And Little Britain is so hilarious!

Now THAT is a perfect "about me" post.

Thank you for sharing the all the detail about yourself, Christina! It provides a context and better perspective when reading your other posts. Love the colours of and patterns on the skirt. i wouldn't have known it was silk though unless you wrote it. The outdoor photos are beautiful and i like the one of you leaning slightly to the right and looking right into the camera. Your hair looks great.

LOL. The fact that you told us you love your "own sents"! Ha! I don't mind my own BO either, except for when I was pregnant. Then it was nasty. Well, at least I thought it was. On that topic, I REALLY love the smell of my husband's sweat.

Here's a good nonfiction book recommendation for you: Hold onto Your Kids. It's excellent.

Also, I ADORE this outfit. SO PRETTY! And I loved hearing more about you. Also why you have only the one son (for now?). That was something I was curious about but would never ask! I know what you mean about being happy with three!

I am too. But for some unknown reason have a compulsion to have more!

I absolutly loved reading this...and the thing that's the greatest about it is that it shows everyone that you are more than just a beautiful picture on a blog, but that you are a VERY intriquing person...the kind of person that people would be lucky to have as a friend...and also someone very real.
Now I'm just a little curious after reading your list of shows you like...have you ever watched "Coupling" (The British Version)...if not I think you would really like it since you seem to like British Humor.... It is seriously the FUNNIEST show ever...my Husband makes fun of me because everytime I watch it I get to a point where I stop breathing because I'm laughing so hard...It's definatly worth checking out!

I came across your blog on accident and even though I'm not into fashion, I love it! I think it's because you bring so much personality to each post and you aren't afraid to be real and vulnerable. I just wanted to de-lurk and say hello finally. Thanks for the little mini bio. :)

Seriously, I read a LOT of blogs and your voice is one of the most authentic I've found. Keep it up.

awesome! now i can say things like, 'my bff in nevada is so funny! she likes to smell her own farts and she cusses like a sailor!' just kidding, although now i see how eerily similar our lives are. well except for tv. my stars, i wouldn't survive without it. and let me just tell you that you are lookin mighty fine in these pics. love the skirt!

Thank you for sharing! I like my BO too, hahaha. Well, sometimes I do. Depends on what I've been doing and probably what I've been eating.

I have a very good friend who lives in Carlin, NV. Do you live anywhere near there? With such small communities, you might even know her.

Your picture today looks awesome with that big blue sky and your really cute dress. I love the bright colors tempered with the black and then the BAM! bright blue belt. Sooo cute. Is it me or is your hair lighter? Looks like you went blonder.

I'm 32 but dang, I wish I looked like you. You look more like 25 I think. Oh well.

Hi Christina, I have been following your blog for a few months now. Every day when I get home from work I log on to find out what you have been up to and see what you are wearing (I love your style). I always think that the scenery in your photos is beautiful and often wonder where you live and so now I know although I will have to look where Northern Nevada is on a map af the USA! I live in Jersey not New Jersey but a small island between England and France, you might just find it on the map if you look very carefully (we are very tiny). So your blog is being watched by people all over the world! Anyway thanks for letting me get to know a little bit about you xxx

Jesus Christ.

I imagine you'll get many "omg me too!" comments here, but seriously.

So- not that I will ask the specific date of your birthday... but are you a Libra? If so, ditto. If not, I am. And if so- that explains A LOT. If not, my bff of forever is a Virgo and that also explains a few things...

Um: salty&crispy: obviously.

Just two days ago I picked up a delicious bottle of bergamot oil. The loverman and I share it, which some would find extremely obnoxious. But it is just that good.

Pretty much all of your favorite shows are my favorite shows. And not that I am extremely judgmental, but if you tell me that you didn't like, or didn't 'get' BBC Office, then I can assume that we will never be seeing each other again. {SO- if you haven't yet [they may or may not be on Netflix yet] you will need to start watching The Ricky Gervais Show. And if you haven't started Extras yet, well then....}- and don't even get me started on Happiness.

Not only do we all secretly enjoy our own BO and farts- but you fucking said it and now I am in hopelessly in love with you until the day I die in a room hotboxed with my own stanky farts.

So pretty much the bottom line is I'm gonna have a great weekend knowing that you are around- and not toooooo far- watering your Orchids (mine just bloomed fourfold! Nursing them all Winter makes that one of the most exciting things that has ever happend) and maybe laughing so hard you fart while watching some quality shit.

I'd also love to give you music recommendations, but I'd hate to assume anything and maybe it's just too soon.

I don't know, I don't want to blow it :)

Have the best weekend ever, please.

And again, I breeze past the real reason why we're all here.

This is great- I thought it was a dress until the very end- but I love how you and Paige just had this awesome connection and on the same day reach for eerily similar items. I love that connectivity and I would have totally beat you up for that skirt.

I would have then given it back bashfully, because those colors are STUNNING on you. Like yow.

I heart you, Momma.

I'm glad you like your farts. I doubt anyone else does though, cuz you seem like you eat a lot of vegetables and those make for the stinkiest.

bless your family, in that case, stinker.

I am so obsessed with the Black Keys too! I got attack&release on vinyl, and have not stopped listening to it, along with Bon Iver - who if you haven't heard of him, youtube him ASAP. You will fall hard, i promise.

Dirty Hair Halo's comment pretty much took mine before I got to type it; pure hilarity.

I was just thinking today about writing a post that was sort of, how personal is too personal? and does anyone care? because you're always sort of been my model for putting just enough of yourself out there for your blog to be a personal experience, but not TMI, if that makes sense.

So yeah. This came at a perfect time, and I think it's perfection. Hello, orchids.

I'm so thrilled to read about you. Until I started reading this post, I didn't realize how little I knew about you. Of course, you are always forthcoming with the day-to-day of your life and have so many great anecdotal stories, I was missing the context of who you are, what you like, etc. I always feel so much more connections with bloggers who share of their life and not just their outfits (so keep that up!)

On the outfit side, I'm insanely, madly in love with this skirt. In fact, we might run off and get married (sorry!) I've always had a thing for tribal-esque prints, but what I love so much about this one is the bright (rainbow bright actually!) colors against the stark black backdrop. The belt is perfect as well, I didn't realize that it wasn't part of the skirt until I read the outfit credits! The color match is perfect!

I know it may sound trite and disingenuous, but I mean this from the bottom of my heart (and if there's a post to say this on - i suppose it would be an about me post) - Thank you for continuing to share your photos and your life with us. I truly enjoy reading your blog.

I also love True Romance and my favourite foods are salty and crispy.

I love the American version of the Office, how funny (although I watched the UK one first). No-one here seems to have seen it though.

Now I finally know where you live! It's so beautiful.

I think you are great.

Hi Christina !
I read your blog since a few time,
and I think that's touching to confide in people like you did.

I may be stupid, but I'm fascinated by views on your pictures.
I love that in the USA: the giant landscapes, and the feeling of being tiny in the world.
I live in France, and there are no that king of landscape. It's a little like a miniature country, to compare with the US.

Sorry for my English, I may do mistakes...
