pins and needles

I think there has been a subtle shift in the tone of my posts this past week and I think that it may partially be due to the fact that I had my first acupuncture appointment last Thursday.  I found out that my Insurance actually covers acupuncture and made my apt. right away since it is something I have wanted to try for a while.  I don't have pain or physical problems I was trying to be treated for, just anxiety and exhaustion.  My acupuncturist gave me a general treatment and some herbs to take home and try.  Please let me tell you, it was the best thing I could have ever done for myself.  I cried the entire time I was in treatment, not huffing crying, just like tears streaming down my cheeks, releasing, what. . . tension, hormones, stress?  Not sure, but when I left she said to me "You will find it much easier to be yourself now."  She was right.  and how timely.  Just when I NEEDED to be able to verbally express my feeling and emotions and let my true self out.  I had more energy than I knew what to do with this week as well. I can get pretty deep into this philosophically and discuss energetically what I think is going on, but my intention here is to just tell you that if you have been thinking about doing it, I strongly recommend that you do.

I have been receiving some very heartfelt comments recently and have been responding to many of them by email since I am away from my computer most of the day but have my phone to send emails all the time.  I can't leave comments very efficiently on my phone though, and anyone who has a Word Press or Tumbler blog account (MANY OF YOU), when you leave comments, your email address is not provided.  I have written so many people in reply to find that it was sent to Norplay-comment@blogger. somesuch.  It makes me so sad because I don't think any of you have received my letters!!  Please, if you have an account that is not in Google Blogger, leave your email address the next time you comment.  I have a few emails in my draft box waiting to be sent out for me to just go to your blogs and root out your email addresses!  Then when I am at your blogs I get side tracked reading and ooohing an aaaahing and totally forget to look for it until you comment again and I am like OH CRAP I need to get her email!

I know my outfit today is pretty similar to Monday's, same scarf and color palette at least, but I just found this scarf again in a drawer and have been wanting to wear it as much as I can!  The sweater is also a real favorite of mine, super warm, oversized dolman sleeves and the perfect length.  Also, I am going to list the brands of my clothes if they are not vintage in the labels line in case anyone is interested.  If they were from the thrift store I just don't say anything.  Hope that will help a little!

it's better to express your feeling then keep them deep inside.

BTW, I like your boots :)

My husband swears by acupuncture. It's never worked for me, but I'm so glad it's helping you already, lady!

That cardi looks fantastically cozy.

I'm so glad to hear your acupuncture has worked out for you!! I would really love to know more about it. Lately I have been a basket case, no sleep, restless not able to find direction in my life or take direction for that matter. I’m so unbalanced that I get easily frustrated with myself and others around me. I lost it on my boss this morning and I felt like I was Donkey Kong just plowing everyday activities just so I could get to the next day and start all over again.

I may have to try acupuncture, I’ve always been hesitant about it not from fear it will hurt but from fear of how I will feel and what mess or feelings I’m pressing back it will unleash when I’m done. I’d love to hear more about your experience with it.

Acupuncture is the best. I loved the comment about finding it easier to be yourself now -- so true. And it shows in your distinctive style.
I recommend yoga too -- that is what I am doing right now -- hoping to open my heart center, let out the old and make room for the new.
Good luck.

I am so glad you have some good energy flowing because of the acupuncture! I had been doing yoga to get my "prana" flowing downward, and today was the first day back to do regular yoga and it was HARD!

I love your bang trim though. They look great!

I'd like to try acupuncture... not for any real reason, more just to try it! I'm loving the scarf.

Because of this post, I may check to see if my insurance covers acupuncture..! I'm all about stress relief, way too much of it lately, and a massage has been MUCH needed but I'd like to try acupuncture as well! It's so nice to hear how it has helped you so much.Wonderful outfit as always, that big sweater looks so warm!

I adore that oversided sweater! It looks so comfy and chic.
I'm not to sure about the acupuncture though as I have a fear of needles. But glad it was so effective for you.

Oh I am a tumber user! I'll try to remember to leave my email address at the end of my comments for now on :)

Ive wanted to get acupuncture for years but just haven't found the time to book an appointment - am going to make the time after reading this! Also - I love love love your batwing cardigan thingy!!! It's super chic and versatile, you've styled it super sexy and casual chic - am on the look out for something similar!

I hate needles, not that accupuncture is the typical needle, so I've always been afraid of it. But I've heard of benefits from doing it. There was even a woman who used eastern medicine along with her chemo when she had melanoma, and it really helped her body feel whole again after the chemo was depleting everything out.

I'm glad you've been feeling a more positive kind of energy.

The whole idea behind acupuncture is pretty interesting.

I'm so glad you've found something that helped. No one deserves to feel bad, for whatever reason.

As for acupuncture, I'm not sure I could let somebody stick needles in me. I'm so afraid of them! I'm still such a baby when I have to get shots...

Love,
Shannon

Thanks so much for giving some inside info on acupuncture. I'll need to find out if my insurance will cover it. I need a a little holistic therapy myself. You are such a great person to reply to everyone's email.

The over-sized sweater is a beauty. I'm glad you are feeling better. I think it's very courageous that you are so open on your blog. Sometimes I feel like I might feel better if I were more open, but it's usually easier to joke and pretend all is ok (and usually it really is ok, but some days...).

I'm glad your feeling better and also to see that sweater again!

Thanks for adding the labels for the brands that aren't vintage. I love your style & was always curious where you got some of the pieces. :)

I rarely, if ever, comment on blog posts, but you've been so encouraging about it that I decided to go for it. I stumbled upon your blog about a week ago and am in awe. Your outfits are so inspiring, and are awakening a dormant little style bug in me. I'm such a fan of thrift, too, that it's great to see another person (with such style, no less) who has that as a fashion ideal. Thanks for the inspiration - I look forward to your posts each day!

This looks perfectly comfy! Glad you got your stress relieved. I have been thinking of going tanning, not because I like tanning, but since we don't have very many hours of sun and it's sooooo cold out. Sometimes those little things just help a bunch.

HAHA i seriously jumped out of my seat when I saw the sweater! I have an obsessive infatuation with big ol' grandpa sweaters!

I really like the way you wore that scarf—like a big awesome necklace. I'm also glad to hear that acupuncture is working for you. I have tried acupuncture too, and while it didn't help my particular problem, I've heard it does wonders. :D
