That being said, I would likely not click through on them on Etsy. When I shop online, I like to see exactly what I'm getting, not an artist rendering. I like to see the true color, get an idea of how the garment drapes, etc. With that effect on the pictures, it's difficult to get a sense of what they look like.

Honestly, I really like the style of photos you use o your Etsy shop currently. I think they have a good sense of personality, and they show the items off well.Dianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17245149881656326385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4235431019167859021.post-67352738853507785102010-06-10T18:29:31.169-07:002010-06-10T18:29:31.169-07:00I'm way late on this, but I find Hipstamatic o...I'm way late on this, but I find Hipstamatic obnoxious. 1) They aren't effective as advertisements for your pieces. 2) The vintage style of the photos certainly is apt for vintage clothing, but they become more about the photos than the clothing you're trying to sell.

3) I also minored in photography as an undergrad--sort of specializing in the albumen process--and I find the Hipstamatic app kind of offensive. So much of what I love about alternative processes is tied to their reference to the handmade, DIY and the element of chance, and I resent the idea that my interest in alternative processes and toy cameras is mere fashion. I feel like the app trivializes alt processes and their aesthetics.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been waiting to talk about this. And my name is Angela, btw, and it's okay to tell me if I'm taking this too seriously.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08188850614333708071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4235431019167859021.post-3017398921066736402010-06-09T22:13:33.738-07:002010-06-09T22:13:33.738-07:00I say leave the shots as standard. The altered photos really stand out and have a great deal of visual interest: if you use them consistently, you'll create a visual 'brand' for your shop that will make your listings stand out and be easy to associate.

I actually like seeing the garments on dress forms as much as or more than on a person. Especially for the shop, because as some girls have mentioned, it's hard to get a feel for the true color of the item this way. I do love to see you modeling the items, but I don't think it's necessary for every single piece. I think you ought to give it a try and see how your customers respond. Maybe like a week trial? Just because some folks don't respond well doesn't mean that others won't.
