I got nothin . . .

. . . except a super clean house including freshly arranged furniture, a new hobby (and a new painting to show for it), more chapters of my book read, absolutely NO magazines in my house and a resolution to never buy another one, all the ingredients for big pots of chicken and rice soup and yummy chili, new musical interests, a new yoga routine, and a super happy, laid back, well rested and cozy disposition. So in reality, I have lots of really great things, but no pictures to show for it. That's okay. My sun is setting at 4:00 these days, an awkward time to get outfit photos, and it's been overcast and gloomy anyway, so I have just been going about my day and not documenting my outfits. No biggie.

Things I am really interested in right now:

  1. Renaissance Soul by Margaret Lobenstien (and here is a great article about this as well. Oh and here is a quiz you can take to see if you are one of them! I answered YES to every question. . . this could explain a lot.)
  2. Coal Miners Daugter, A Tribute Album to Loretta Lynn (I only heard one track from the album during an interview with Loretta on NPR, "Rated X" redone by the White Stripes, and say what you will about me for being interested, but put simply, I was.)
  3. Laser Hair Removal.  I got some hair follicles fried on Fry-day and am feeling pretty optimistic about a weed free existence in some of the darker parts of the jungle. Get your minds out of the gutter!!! I am talking about my arm pits. . .  and stuff
  4. Water Color Painting. Ya, that's what I said. I went out like a maniac and bought about $200 worth of paints and paper and brushes and Miskit and shit and have started painting again. By again, I am referring to the one semester I took at the community college 8 years ago. Before my BA. When making pictures was fun and no one gave me mean critiques and there was no concept behind the work. . .  just a pretty picture that felt nice to give your mom since she loved it because you made it. Whateves. It's some fun shit.
  5. Leaving my computer in the office. Not on the kitchen counter where it calls to me, well actually sings to me and seduces me and manipulates me and glues me to it. . . No, now it is tucked away in the newly rearranged office where it is out of sight and out of mind, ready to go when I need it and when I have allowed it some time . . . so I can paint and read and cook and listen to music and make appointments to laser my hair off.
I do have a really wonderful new collection to list and sell!! I think it is the best yet! I will be photographing and prepping it this week. And I'll likely have some photos again soon as well. . .

i heard that interview with loretta lynn on NPR, too! :)

my boyfriend graciously let me have an entire room in our tiny place for my etsy/blogging stuffs, and i still manage to leave my laptop on the coffee table, where it tends to get me to land on the couch and sucked in to the interwebs whenever i walk by. i took next week off work and am doing exactly what you did - cleaning, organizing and getting everything together. thanks for the reminder that it just NEEDS to get done!

and JEALOUS of your laser hair removal! ive always wanted to do it!!!!

A super clean house is always such a great feeling. I only managed to get a semi-clean house this weekend and that was exhausting enough. Good luck with teh watercolours, should be more fun without the meanie critics.

I would love if you'd share your new yoga routine. I've grown tired of mine and perhaps a new routine would reignite the spark.

Hi Christina!

I totally got into the Renaissance Soul subject and will probably keep digging until I've found the "keys" (meaning 3 days, time for me to fall out of interest, haha) to make such a pain in the ass nature my best asset. ;^)
I answered yes to all the questions too...I actually had noticed this thing about myself & I wound up thinking it was more of an educational "luggage" than anything else: being born & raised in a hippy commun where low maintenance was a religion I assumed my unability to follow a course I love and to some extend finding a life path were obvious consequences of my background.
But...huh..interesting.
Well, always interesting to get to know myself better, especially if it raises my gloomy november self-esteem, isn't it?

EM!! Oh I am so sorry! I did get your comment and forgot to got to my comments moderation page and accept them! I moderate comments on post that are more than two days old to cut back on spam and save my readers from having to go through the whole word verification process. I apologize for making you worry, your comment was very lovely and I clicked on and read your profile but didn't see a way to email or send you correspondence. I guess I can just start commenting in my comments section like other bloggers do.

So my husband just picked this book up for me today and I will likely read the whole things this weekend! I am looking forward to having conversations with you! Have we emailed before? Everyone has different names all over the place, Em emily, miss Millie, em1453, I never know who I am actually talking to. The cucumber sandwiches tipped me off! My email is secondskin19@gmail.com if you would like to continue this off line.
