Grown up Rockabilly

An eventful weekend.  How was yours?  My son turned 5 last Saturday so there was lots of fun stuff, mini golf, slip and slide, water fights, BBQ, stuff like that.  On his birthday night his only request was to sleep at his granny's house so that meant a night out for us to celebrate as well.  I wore this get up to see our friend's Rockabilly band perform in a little dive bar.  It was great.  I love stuff like that.  I had a huge crush on Mike Ness back when I was a teenager, went to the Social D shows in tight leopard pants and red lipstick. Though my Rockabilly stage was very short lived (mostly for the duration of a single short term boyfriend, and trust me, I was never quite hard core enough to be considered officially "in to it") My love for all of that has never completely gone away.  It was fun to do a little bit of a grown up, toned down version. I still have fantasies of being a tatted up, black haired, short banged vixen sometimes, but sometimes fantasies are just fine as fantasies.

Shirt: thrifted Vintage Diane Von Furstenberg

Happy birthday to your wonderful son! And I'm glad you had a good weekend! I was planning to send an e-mail to you but I think this explanation is just good for me, glad you're feeling better now. Your shirt is amazing, and it's thrifted Vintage Diane Von Fursenburg? Oh! So good!!! You look very beautiful...

That's so precious that he wanted to sleep at his grammy's house! I loved doing that as a kid too.

Love this skirt!

Ah Social D. I myself had a short term boyfriend who got me hooked. I still get in the mood to listen to them every once in a while.
Have you seen the movie "Life or Something Like It" with Angelina Jolie as a blonde reporter? There is one scene when she has her hair in a mess with her glasses on listening to social distortion full blast. It makes me happy. I think we all need a mix of badass and classy lady in our lives.
You look great here. That little purse is one of a kind!

p.s. comments are still effed up when i try to login with my wordpress. FYI

I love the pattern mixing, and the bows on the blouse are adorable.

Glad to hear you had a great birthday weekend for your son! Summer birthdays are the best since you can do water fights and barbeques. I love that his request gave you an adult night out, too - bonus!

I just fell in love with that skirt all over again! I never got around to sewing the last one...

My new mantra is "finish what you started" so with that in mind...

A love affair will begin with a bit of fabric and a pattern.

Hope "your son;)" had a wonderful Birthday! 5! WOW!

Love Social D. And rockabilly phases are the best. This outfit is so adorable. Are you going to fashion week? I'd love to see you again, girly! Our time together last time was so fleeting!

Such a great look. Sexy yet demure. Oh and happy bday to your little boy! FIVE! Wow, that's officially little boyness! How exciting. He must be big enough for crafts now! I can't wait until my son is big enough for crafts!

And so nice you got to go out too! Because really, even though the birthday is your son's, it was YOU doing all the hard work five years ago!

I. Love. That. Purse. Just the turn-lock and braiding and texture and structure...oh-so lovely.

Congrats on your son's fifth! And actually, my childhood friend from when I was five stayed over at my house during this past weekend. Five is such an amazing age to be.

Yipee Kai yai yay! Thanks dearie!
I will be in touch sometime next week as I am having some testing done all this week. Happy Birthday to your baby boy and thanks for the tips. My canon blows out badly, unless I am under a ton of shade. U-tube has tons of really easy how-to's for the Rebel, and one guy swears by the eye-piece cover. I haven't tried it yet, but he says that light comes in through there equally as through the lens, thus over-exposure. Hmm.... Kinda makes sense! Though many other "real" photographers say they avoid heavy sunlight. Anyhoo, you look beautiful as always. You make simple look hard, which it is to most people ;)

Well don't you look sweet in this outfit! You would never guess you had a 5 year old son! So glad to hear you had a great weekend, things were sounding a bit grim around here for a while (not complaining, just saying...).
