do i look like a b-

Ever since I was little (like a sophomore) I was under the assumption that if I didn't smile in pictures I kind of look like a b-i-t-c-h (spelled out so that I am not actually cussing) so I just be sure to always smile since I assure you I am not a you know what and do not wish to be perceived as such, so, take a sort of smile with squinty eyes from looking at the sun, and what do you get?  Beats me.  As long as you don't think I look like a little B. I am fine!  For some reason all of my pics turned out this way so I was just like, ah whateves.

Last weekend when I was hanging out with Paige, I got these pants and this scarf (at separate shops) and a really cool mustard belt that I couldn't quite fit into this outfit (but would work with a dark gray pencil skirt).  To do this scarf trick, just take one that is a bit larger than usual, hold it square in front of you, tie two sides together at the top around your neck, and the bottom two sides together around your waist.  Its like a slouchy silk blouse or something. Throw a blazer or cardi on if you feel too naked in the back and wear a high waist pencil skirt or pants and presto!  New super cool halter blouse right!! I think this will work well with boobies too if you happen to be blessed with them, so find yourself an oversized scarf and give it a try! Or not, what ever you want.  I just think there is an over abundance of cool scarves in the world not being used to their fullest potential and they are all just sitting around waiting to be featured so why not.  I don't know.

Oh, and that kick ass ring, I saw it at Idee Geniale when she was doing her giveaway last week (sorry, you missed it, some cool chick named Allison won it) and decided that since like 5 million people entered to win it I probably didn't have a chance, so I just bought it.  Good freaking job Erin Wasson.

I'm really amazed at how well you work those scarves. All the "tops" that you have created look great. I really love the brown and turquoise tones in this outfit. And, btw, I have such a bitch face when I'm not smiling. People are always asking if something is wrong!

Being blessed/cursed with a 34DD frame, I am always a smidge skeptical of backless tops, but with a big enough (loose enough) scarf, it COULD work. I suppose if one is really paranoid about side flashing she could utilize some of that clothing/skin tape. Just a inch or two on either side should be sufficient.

You've inspired me to try! I'll send a picture if it's decent.

I am the same way. I am convinced that I look like I'm going to go postal when I don't smile in my photos!

This outfit is so inspired, lady. The teal shoes with the brown and the gorgeous print in the scarf? Yum!

this outfit is fantastic! one of my faves of yours, the colors look awesome with your skin tone. And yes, along with all of the others - loving the scarves, great ideas all around : )

Ooh yes, I'm with Miss Minty. I'm a 32D/DD and I do see how this could work if the scarf were big enough. The hunt starts now to find one!

I didn't realize your top was a scarf until you mentioned it -- it looks genius on you!

i'm with you, Miss Minty - blessing and a curse! I don't think the scarf trick would work on my frame :(

looks great on you, though!!!

"boobies"... HAHA. Christina, you make me smile.

If my girls didn't resemble ripe bananas without the proper support, I'd be tempted to try this scarf trick [side note.. I've been obsessed with silk scarves since I was a little girl.. I used to dress up in ONLY them when I was younger. I'll have to scan a photo to show you.] I think I'll just leave this trick to the pros.

My boyfriend is always telling me that people think I'm angry when I don't smile. That's not the case! Sometimes I just don't smile! I've started to see in my blog pictures how true that is so I've been trying to smile more. You don't look like a b- just so you know . And goodness know that just because you aren't smiling doesn't mean that you are either.

Oh yeah that's right. You killed me four times.
1. Blouse
2. High Cham
3. That friggin Erin Wasson ring. I am not Allison, so I obviously didn't win. But I still wannnnnt it.
4. And you have the teal Gypsy's. I have to hide my red ones from myself so that I don't wear them every single day. Then I was like, "Zoƫ, dude. Just buy them in EVERY COLOR". And then I decided that I really should not do that. And then seeing yours I was like... Uh oh.

This is so lovely, and I really love seeing fall colors implemented into spring. I feel like it makes a lot of people nervous when they're not wearing pastels in the Spring and Summer. But it looks amazing. And I will definitely try the scarf trick. Brilliant!!!!

i think my favorite part of this whole post is that you said 'boobies.' i do not have any boobies to speak of so i will be trying this. with a blazer or cardigan. and yes the ring is amazing!

I love your scarf top. I was experimenting with scarfs as tops the other day, only under cardigans and belted - I don't think I could pull off the fabulous backless look!

And those shoes --- I love them so much, the color is just gorgeous.

Well, I wouldn't say the B word. But you def. look like you've got attitude in that second pic! I think you look awesome actually. When I don't smile in pictures I don't look like a b i t c h, I look like a serial killer (or like I'm in pain) or like I'm an idiot (so I smile!).

Love this look on you. Must try the scarf trick. I think I will over a tank top so that I can wear a bra... alas, stupid necessary contraption. But perhaps I should be counting my boobie blessings as you pointed out? ;-)

It's so funny, when I first started taking outfit pictures, it looked so weird to me when I wasn't giving my biggest school photo smile. I've gotten more used to it, but it still seems weird not to smile big in photos! That said, I don't think you look like a bitch in any of your photos, plus you're always so nice (it shows in the photos and your text) no one could mistake your for a bitch!! Keep smiling (or not!) either works.

You my wonderful friend, don't need to be heartbroken... I just wished to be near you, that’s all :) It may take a few years for me to go there but you should come as soon as possible and I’m sure you’ll like it here… And I can’t wait to meet you!!! And I’m very curious about that book you mentioned now!

The scarf top again!!! Ok, I think I need to do that soon too :D You look wonderful... And I have to say that, you look more beautiful in the second photo that you smiled less... I don't mean that you're smile isn't that good, I just mean that you look gorgeous, not like "you know what it is" when you're not smiling too!!!

Just gotta say...umm...AZTEC ring???

No, it's Egyptian..it says "Cleopatra" - ! (Well sort of...it really says "leopatra" - with her head where the "K" hieroglyph would go.)

How can the designers not know this?? LOL.

(And they have another Egyptian themed ring too, the scarab.)

Anyway, just so ya know.

I feel kind of the same way about not smiling. Except instead of looking mean, I sometimes look like I'm either going to cry or I'm about to slash my wrists. Neither of which is reflective of how I actually feel! I love what you can do with a scarf! Next time i'm n a thrift or vintage store, I'm def gonna search for a scarf large enough that I can fashion a drapey blouse out of. Thanks for the inspiration!

xoxo, Ashley
