Revelation: the shower cap

  1. I woke up to a fresh blanket of snow today!  It actually looks very pretty and will probably melt by this afternoon so I am just trying to enjoy it while it lasts.
  2. My husband bought me a new CAMERA yesterday!!  A Cannon Rebel SLR fancy smansy type camera with the manual dohickies and extra watchamacallits!  I read the entire manual last night!  These pics were taken with it, and they do look a little crisper I think!  I can't wait for the weather to clear so I can experiment with depth of field and stuff!
  3. Thanks to Mel (I know I can't stop talking about her) I have officially discovered SHOWER CAPS.  Yes, I know that they are ancient and most girls have been using them since the dawn of beauty, but I just got my first one yesterday!  You see, ever time I read about how girls only wash their hair like twice a week, or every other day, I was always wondering "So, did they take a shower?  Did they get their hair wet and just not wash it? How does one go more than a day without Washing?"  I have always washed my hair every time I shower.  It just never occurred to me to wear a shower cap, until I had a little talk with Mel last weekend and asked these exact things.  Her hair is like virgin baby hair.  So healthy and shiny.  She gives it a break from washing and told me the secrets of dry hair shampoo, shower caps, and hot rollers.  Very interesting.  So today is day two of me not washing my hair.  I would like to see how far I can stretch it. I am sure the hat will not help much, but I am putting my new tools to the test.

I love this cape! It's actually the reason I bought the other one from you.
I totally agree. Everyone talks about how they only wash their hair a couple times a week. I don't get it! I feel like my hair gets flat, stringy and gross if I don't wash it. Maybe some peoples hair has different needs than others? Or maybe I'm just destroying my hair. who knows!

Washing hair too often dries out :( I just use headband as I get annoyed when the water splashes on the cap and it makes funny noises :D Weird...

Love your outfit...

I tell ya, days 3 & 4 of dirty hair is when it looks the best. Sometimes I get it wet, sometimes i just do circles around the spout (its a funny sight)... handheld shower works best :)

You look so freaking chic it's not even funny! (There goes the "freakin" again.. can't help it!) Love the shoes too!

Shower cap.. wish I could try one! I feel like I need to give my hair a break but not sure if it would work for me, I think I'd get dandruff or oily roots or something!

I just put it up in a ponytail?

I wash my hair 2x per week and it takes a few times for your hair to get used to it. The first few times it will be more greasy...then your scalp gets used to it and doesn't produce so much oil. I read that somewhere. It makes sense , no? :)

I wash every 3rd or 4th day.
And yes, my hair is healthier for it!
Love your look today and I am totally jealous since I have been wanting an SLR for some time now!

It is such a liberating thing to realize that you don't have to wash your hair every day, and there are shower caps still in existence. Now, granted I went the extreme route: from shampooing, conditioning, blow drying, and styling every single day of my ever living life- to shampooing once a week and never conditioning or combing it again. the only high maintenance thing about it is my dreadlocks take a super long time to dry, so i use a nifty table top dryer.
try it, and you might never go back! just remember your scalp takes a few weeks to adjust the oil levels. don't worry, it won't look greasy forever! <3

I have alot of practice with mine. If you need any tips, let me know! It will change your world!!! The editing tools (did u get digital photo professional?) are kick ass! You will no longer need to go to other sites to do editing! Can u tell I love mine? ;)
I'm so excited for you!

P.S. It takes awesome detailed shot of accessories as well! I do feel the need to edit my wrinkles and scars now, though! You can literally count the pores on your face!

I only wash my hair 2-3 times per week as well. I just pull it back in a bun and use a headband in the shower. Works every time!

I'm a huge fan of the shower cap. I only wash twice a week, yet I go to the gym every day.
I used to wash every day and had terrible problems with greasy hair and dandruff, no more!
I don't use dry hair powders (don't like the feeling) but I'm a HUGE believer in the natural boar bristle brush. Invest in a good one. It redistributes the natural oils and leave the hair full, soft, and shiny. I always get compliments on my hair!

i have so much to say! i love your post today!! i'm dying over those shoes! awesome!

good attitude about the snow! my first thought was about how unfortunate that is for you! but then you go and say how you are trying to enjoy it while you can? you are so amazing!

also, i have a cannon rebel slr also. i still don't know very much. maybe you can give some tips once you figure out a few things. eh?

and finally, i had the shower cap awakening a few years ago when i started putting more time into my hair. and there are so many great dry-shampoos out there now!

i haven't said so yet but i am adoring your new hair!

okay, that's enough. sorry it was so long!! happy weekend!
