At Florence and the Machine
At Charlotte Gainsbourg
On our last day we tried to hit it pretty hard. I mean I would definitely not call us "hard core" (to the contrary, compared to those among us, I would say we are. . . well, soft core?) but it was a very ambitious day. We got there just after the gates opened at 11:00 and saw One EskimO, Florence and the Machine (wonderful by the way) Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Phoenix, and Pavement. We picked and chose the bands we really wanted to get close to since being touched on all sides for one hour straight and jumping up and down against the force of the crowd is only something we can tolerate in small doses. I almost passed out during the Florence show, and we had to have a nice sit down after Charlotte, so we took it really easy for the rest of the shows, which were beyond nuts anyway. Our outfits were really easy that last day too. It seemed like everyone was pretty relaxed clothing wise on day three (in fact most girls were just in bikinis). It was so much fun though! I ended up getting a little chest cold while we were there, maybe due to all the particles floating around. It looks like it was snowing in those night shots, but thats just stuff we were breathing in I guess.
Yesterday we all woke, showered and packed. We left Palm Desert about 9:00 am and I think we all ended up getting home about 10:00 pm Pacific time (My husband and I by car, Mel by car and plane) We made one stop on our way to LAX, at a drug store where we purchased a shower curtain and some scissors, then in the parking lot, I gave Mel a very spontaneous haircut! Her final words right before I took the first cut were "This is Crazy!!" It took less than 15 minutes and we were back on the road. I think she liked it! I am waiting to see what she says on her blog though!
