Luxuriate

I have to admit that I have been giving my computer a lot less attention since my Quantifiable Evidence post.  I only really started blogging hard core last November when the weather was too cold to spend time outdoors.  I didn't really think about what I would do once it warmed up.  I don't think I am a "unfair weather blogger" but it is true that I have been spending less and less time on my computer in exact measurement to the degree of sunlight and warmth available.  Hmmm.  I am a creature of pleasure, sensation and desire fulfillment.  Does that make sense?   I pour my heart into doing things I LOVE to do.  I can still get things done that I don't feel passion for, but I don't luxuriate in them.  LUXURIATE.  That is an adjective my husband uses to describe my state of being when I do something I enjoy.  While I eat Honey Greek Yogurt or hash browns, when I shave my legs, while dancing alone, or taking blog pictures, laying in sunny windows, or sleeping in.  I do it slowly and unhurried, in the moment.  Deep breaths with a smile on my face.  Smells.  Yoga sessions could last for hours, savasana, a complete trip to nowhere. Food tastes so much better when it lingers over each area of the tongue.  I close my eyes a lot.  I love earthly pleasures.  To be fair to my husband, I am sure it can be super annoying to live with, and it does not create a very productive environment when it comes to taking care of "business" like dishes (over piled in my sink) laundry (mountains) and obligations (ah, tomorrow).  Living in the moment has its plusses and minuses.

Apparently, I still love blogging and bloggers and blog watching, but there are so many new pleasures that have been getting in line recently.  Lately, I have been really into dancing.  I just found the Feist album, Let it Die  and just want to play "Inside and Out" over and over and dance with my eyes closed.  I am sure I will find a happy medium somewhere.

I AM so happy to be wearing my Sabrina dress again today!  I found these shoes during the great reorganization Saturday and was excited to wear them after taking a couple years off from them.  I think I bought them in 07 at Old Navy actually!  Crazy.

COMMENT OF THE DAY:  I read this comment probably 5 times.  Thanks lady.

I just love the way you described LUXURIATE here. Loved it. Reading it almost felt slow and easy, just like the feelings you described. It's wonderful to hear the positive message here, about relishing in the things we love.
I visit your blog because your outfits are always a pleasure to see (I mean, girl, you got style!) but the way you write out your thoughts like this... well, just absolutely lovely.
And yes, from one yoga teacher to another, I completely look forward to that "trip to nowhere" myself.

How about these pants with the white/dress/shirt that the pencil skirt didn't quite work with?

I wish, WISH I had time to luxuriate. My life is a whirlwind of work, travel and blogging. I must try to slow down and appreciate life a little more!

Oh I hear ya - it can be hard to stay glued to a monitor when there's spring to be enjoyed! Hope you'll squeeze in a bit of blogging here and there, lady. I adore seeing how you pair things up!

That dress is sooooo amazing, and I love the story behind it... yeah, I try to update the blog, but it starts to resemble a ghost town when I can start riding my bike around town...

I love that idea of luxuriate, I need to just purely enjoy things again. I always eat on the run and am too busy to just sit outside :( time to change that!

I really enjoyed reading this post, although I suppose what your husband calls luxuriating, I would call being mindful.

That dress is just gorgeous!

What a beautifully written post. You do realize you just described happiness, right? Taking the time to really savor those moments, tastes, smells, whatever. That is truly reaping all that is good out of life. You know? Nice :)

Good News!! I just went to Old Navy today and they have the exact same shoes there. Seems to me they like a good wedge.
Maybe you can start taking more pictures outside to enjoy the sun and the world of blogging...just a thought!!

I have never been partial to the dress-over-pants look, but you're making me change my opinion. You really make it work!!

I suppose cleaning does have an advantage or two.... the sandals are so cute and I love how you've styled the dress.

I love the jeans with the dress! I need to do this with my skinnies because I feel hugely fat when I wear them now =/ Odd.
