East meets West

Ya, so I guess this just makes sense to me, even though it shouldn't.  Its a Denim Gee, for like martial arts I think, but it only really felt right with the leather belt and boots.  I got it at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago (along with those boots) and when I got it home I tried it on this way. Its gorgeous today so I decided, what the heck!  And it feels easy and fun and so perfect for a casual Saturday!   Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Oh and thanks for humoring my old high school pics!  To answer some questions, I love myself as a brunette (my natural color now), I was very blonde when I was young and after I hit puberty it muddied up a little so I highlighted it until my early 20s when I actually went red for a few months then settled at a bottled brown.  I have been basically natural for a couple of years now (using wash outs occasionally for shine, Natural Instincts Clove).  I think I look all right either way, but blonde is more expensive and time consuming to maintain properly.

You look like the drill team decided to do a Japanese themed show! And I mean that to be a compliment! Ha. I always wanted to be able to kick my leg above my head, land in the splits, all while wearing fabulous boots and short shorts. Anyways, you're cool style never ceases to astound me!

the title fits so well! You're like Istanbul today :D hahah I'm sure one day I'll go there just to take a thrift shop tour with you! (beside other things :D) You're so good at finding things! And also lately I've been thinking that this is a very eco-friendly way to shop! Which is another relief :)

I totally agree about the haircolour - you look great as a brunette! I was blond for like 4-5 years, high school into the first part of University and I liked it but it was SO much maintainence, so expensive and it fried my hair. Got sick of it one year and just decided to go back to natural. Took a year of cutting it monthly and dying over the blond to get back to my natural hair! I don't think I'll ever go back - my hair is so shiny and smooth, and I can go two or three months without cutting it or doing anything and it still looks fine! Recently died it a redder version of my natural colour and really like it but that's as far as I'll go except for maybe some highlights. Until the grey starts coming in anyway lol. LUV your blog!

that belt is fabulous

you look great as both a blonde and a brunette, although I must admit I prefer the burnette on you

I like the brunette because it brings out your eyes. That martial arts shirt does manage to work for you! Cute.

Only you could pick out a denim kimono-looking piece and totally rock it! Your style rocks! :)

This is so cool looking. And it's Asian-inspired without being obvious. Love it.

I love garments that fuse different cultures together. This gee is an amazing find, and you styled it beautifully.

I would have never thought to style a gee like that. Not that I have any of them any more....

I can't believe you found those boots at a thrift store! I have been searching for a pair since I first came across your blog and saw a post where you wore a gray dress with boots and a belt that were the same color as these! Here we always find black boots!
