milking it

Yesterday I found  Mel's (Idee_Geniale) tips for doing these milkmaid braids and just had to give it a whirl!  it is actually so stink'in easy and it gives me another excuse to rock the head scarf (which I think I am getting the hang of!)  I tried it last night and just wanted to sleep in them!  My repeat today was not quite as good since my hair was so clean and freshly dried, but its still working (I think!) I couldn't resist popping this orange purse that I found at a thrift store in Palm Springs last summer.  I think my outfit was actually influenced a little by this photo shoot of Zooey Deschanel in some magazine years ago where she was wearing like a retro swim suit and playing with a big beach ball.  It was all sepia and vintage looking and GORGEOUS!  I will try to find it in google images or something, but, ya thats where I am going with this.

It is incredibly cold and snowy outside, so I had an indoors day prepping more stuff for the Etsy shop.  Most of the shoes are 7.5 or 8, with the exception of the black boots which are size 9.  I will not accept reserves on the shoes since I would prefer you to read the descriptions regarding fit and whatnot before deciding, but If you would like to reserve an item of clothing, PLEASE make sure I have your email address!!  All of the items will be listed this week, most of it Thursday morning.  Cool beans.

I'm glad your hair style worked out. I tried it, but my hair is still too short. You looks awesome by the way!

your hair looks glamourous today. :)

Thank you for posting the braids link. I may have to do the shorter one since my hair is shorter and so much thinner.

I'm wondering where your pails are! You look so adorable. Surely the most fabulous milkmaid on the farm? :)

Love the braids! I used to love wearing my hair that way and, to be honest, I think about growing my hair out for just that reason.

Aaah this look is just perfect, so cute yet somehow edgy at the same time!! The vertical stripes look so cool, and the shoes and the jacket and the bag and well, everything actually. Definitely something I'd wear, too.

The milkmaid braids are perfection! You look exactly like Mel in the last photo! The upclose pic...no joke, i had to look again because I thought you posted a pic of her just to show your readers a comparison of her braids and yours.
Ok....so this retro beachball pic of Zooey--maybe it was in Jane magazine, June or July 2006??? Maybe I'm crazy for even knowing this, but I remember she was on the cover and it was a sorta beach-themed spread. And sigh, maybe this is not even close to the picture you're talking about!

Such an incredible look! I think you have such a beautiful face, and with your hair pulled back--it showcases it even more!

I love your hair.. the head scarf is the perfect touch! You know, you and Zooey look very similar.. the whole dark hair, blue eyes thing. I was always (ok, still am) SO jealous of girls with dark hair and blue eyes!

I love the closeup shot of your braids - it definitely gives a Zooey vibe.

I used to wear scarves like that in my hair all the time, I should do it again. I don't do much with my hair in the winter for warmth's sake, but I miss fun hairstyles.

I'm incredibly jealous that you have enough hair to do these braids - they look great on you.

hooray for pretty braids and your etsy shop!
i know just the zooey picture you are talking about--it's from an interview in the now defunct (sad) jane magazine a few years ago. i mentally referred to that very picture last summer before purchasing a candy-cane striped strapless one-piece vintage bathing suit...
the braids look great! they are my favorite look these days also!

Love the striped outfit....You are rocking these outfits. The shorty cut-offs are rad with the sheer hose.
Would have never thought to put those two together.
Rad!
