Guardian

My mom made and gave to me a little brunette cherub with blue eyes and blue dress when I was very young and she told me it was my guardian angel.  She said it would quietly watch over me and protect me from harm.  I still have the little darling, but I have come to discover that sometimes guardian angels are not little blue eyes babies.  In fact sometimes they are just very compassionate people with funny aliases.  My Guardian contacted me yesterday, and due to this contact, I will not give any specifics about WHERE I live exactly.  It is in the Grand State of Nevada and if you do find yourself in my neck of North America and feel inclined to stop by, send me an email and we will talk about it!

Today I wanted to wear something a little ethereal and angelic to pay tribute to all those who watch out for others.  It can be a scary world and we could all use a little help watching our backs.  I have never worn this dress before. White is a very difficult color to me, too pure, too unforgiving.  If I do wear white I dirty it down with lots of brown accents.  I couldn't help but sneak a bit of brown in this black and white palette.  I found this boho hat out thrifting yesterday (which was so fun!! Thanks Rosie!) as well as these lace up boots.  I know everyone has had a pair of these forever, but this is the first time I have actually found a pair in my size at the thrift shops.

My grandmother passed away when I was 7 and my mom told she then that she was in heaven to be my guardian angel. I think that since it happened when I was so young, I grew up believing in it and still do. In a strange way, it helps you during low times when you feel like there is nobody.

Love the outfit, though! And I am so obsessed with hats lately :]

This outfit really reminds me of British style during WWII. Functional fashion with a utilitarian feel. I love the white dress with the tough boots and cute hat. SUCH a great look!!

I love how you can take long dresses that would look frumpy on me (due to the length) and make them look incredible! I admire that.

Oh, and my mum did the same thing for me - only when I got my license. She had an angel hanging from her rear view mirror and now I do too.

I really like the all black outfit with the little pop of blue jean shorts. And I think you should wear that dress out in a really green grassy field. It would look beautiful blowing in the wind. Don't sit down though! GRASS STAINS.

Wise decision - stay safe! love the boots - have never been able to find a pair I in thrift stores (or in sales) in my size due to Cinderella size feet!

I love the white dress. I kept my eyes peeled for white linen/lace dresses the whole time I was thrifting the other day but not luck. It's at the top of my wishlist!

i very much understand the need to feel cocooned and safe in your locale- however, now i'm sad that i spent all these months in the Grand State of Nevada and didn't actually get to meet you. if i go back, can we make that happen?
